The diary was kept by B-17 Waist Gunner Emile R. Martineau was a member of the M. Lovell (pilot) crew and completed 18 combat bombing missions against Germany from 2/10/1945 to 4/18/1945. The diary has super content regarding the missions flown including flak, flak damage, damaged and shot down B-17’s, and also his fear of encountering German Jets. The diary starts on 2/3/1945 and goes to his final combat mission. There are more than 18 entries as several missions were postponed or scrubbed. It took his crew 5 tries to finally get their 1st completed mission due to engine trouble, weather, and scrubbed missions. The mission diary is entirely written in legible period ink by Martineau.
