Usaf F-16 Prototype Ground Decoy From The Us Air Force Museum
We can lift onto your trucker’s commercial flatbed 18 wheeler or any car hauler can move it. Own a real piece of Cold War history. Poor man’s warbird. With original factory military container included. Tail# 2 so 2nd one built and only one in the world to survive this long. Built by Durodyne in Tucson Arizona Circa 1988. Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton Ohio. The home of the US Air Force Museum. This is the only one in civilian hands that we know of. Out of only around 36 built, this is the last example in the world to survive. A spectacular relic of the US Air Force COLD WAR, C. Plan, Camouflage, Concealment and Deception. 1 Make the enemy think we have more F-16’s than we really do. 2 Make the enemy think we have F-16’s where we really don’t. 3 Get the enemy to waste his expensive ordinance on an inexpensive decoy and save a 30 million dollar F-16. The decoy is full size around 31′ wing tip to wing tip x 41′ nose to tail x 17′ tall to the top of the vertical stabilizer. Completely collapsible and fits in the OD green clam shell box at only 8′ wide x 15′ long x 2′ deep at a total combined weight of only 3,000 lbs. Once assembled it is towable with a common military style pintle hook. 1:1 ratio scale of an actual USAF F-16 Fighting Falcon / Viper. Made of aluminum bulkheads and 4″ x 4″ square aluminum tubing that telescopes in and out on itself like a portable radio antenna. Once assembled you skin the aluminum skeleton frame in canvas. Looks like a box kite from the ground but from the air it has perfect fidelity. When the decoy was parked next to a real F-16 and attacked by USAF fighter pilots in F-4 F Phantoms during testing, our pilots chose the decoy as their target while using gun cameras, 50% of the time. Our own pilots can not tell the difference. I bought it at action, as scrap, in 1996 from the DRMO, Defense Reutilization and Marketing Office in Columbus, OH. This was way before 911. Items could leave base relatively intact. It was demilitarized by throwing away the instructions and about five parts. You are welcome to join us setting it up at the Cleveland, OH National Airshow to learn how to set it up. The item “USAF F-16 PROTOTYPE GROUND DECOY FROM THE US AIR FORCE MUSEUM” is in sale since Monday, May 25, 2020. This item is in the category “eBay Motors\Parts & Accessories\Aviation Parts & Accessories\Parts”. The seller is “museum3″ and is located in Wickliffe, Ohio. Vtg 1950s USAF B-15D Ground Crew Flight Jacket Korean War Cross Distressed 34
Vintage USAF Ground Crew B-15D Intermediate Flying Jacket with cross on back, sage green, size 34. Cross on back and bands on shoulders are reflective material. I believe this to be from the 1950s or 60s (my research is showing that the sage green version of this jacket was introduced into combat in late’52). No identifying or date information found on jacket or inside pockets. Has stains and obvious wear. Zipper could be replaced as it is damaged and is a little hard to start, but it still works. Some damage to collar. Fraying on wrist bands. Has stitching suggesting existence of patch on left breast that was removed. See photos for measurements. The item “Vtg 1950s USAF B-15D Ground Crew Flight Jacket Korean War Cross Distressed 34″ is in sale since Wednesday, February 24, 2021. Hobby Master 172 USAF A-10A Thunderbolt II Ground Attack Aircraft, #HA1328
Obsolete weapons do not deter. British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. The A-10 and OA-10 Thunderbolt IIs are the first Air Force aircraft designed specifically for close air support of ground forces. They are simple, effective, and highly survivable twin-engine jet aircraft that can be used against all ground targets, especially tanks and other armored vehicles. The first production A-10A was delivered to Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, AZ. The aircraft can carry a wide variety of ordnance under its wings and nose, loiter on-station for long periods of time, and fly over a wide combat radius, making it an ideal warrior on today’s battlefield. In the Gulf War, A-10s, with a mission capable rate of 95.7 percent, flew 8,100 sorties and launched 90 percent of the AGM-65 Maverick missiles used in-country. This particular 1:72 scale replica of a USAF Fairchild Republic A-10A Thunderbolt II ground attack aircraft that was attached to the 66th Weapons Squadron, then deployed to Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada, during April 2005. Dimensions: Wingspan: 8-3/4-inches Length: 9-3/4-inches. Features: – Diecast construction – Accurate markings and insignia – Full complement of weapons – Opening canopy – Comes with seated pilot figure – Interchangeable landing gear – Comes with display stand. Historical Account: “Hawgsmoke” – Hawgsmoke is a biennial United States Air Force bombing, missile, and tactical gunnery competition for A-10 Thunderbolt II units. It is hosted by the winners of the previous competition and provides both skills competition and an opportunity to share in the camaraderie and fellowship within the A-10 community. Hawgsmoke grew out of the discontinued “Gunsmoke” Air Force Worldwide Gunnery Competition. Colonel Cliff Latta of the 172nd Fighter Squadron is credited with initiating the first Hawgsmoke competition at the Alpena Combat Readiness Training Center, Michigan and was hosted by the Michigan Air National Guard’s 172nd Fighter Squadron from Battle Creek. A-10 units from around the world sent four aircraft and associated crew to compete in ground attack and target destruction events. The 118th Fighter Squadron from the Connecticut Air National Guard won the first event and in turn hosted Hawgsmoke 2002, at Fort Drum, New York. In 2002, 17 teams and 62 aircraft competed. The overall winner was the four-member team from the 47th Fighter Squadron from Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana. Hawgsmoke 2002 emphasized target acquisition and focused on accurately dropping practice bombs, firing the AGM-65 Maverick missile, and strafing proficiency with the 30 mm GAU-8 Gatling gun. Hawgsmoke 2004 was hosted by the 47th Fighter Squadron and held at England Air Park, Louisiana. The competition grew to include 18 teams and more than 70 aircraft. Weather conditions forced the cancellation of the competition events and consequently the event became known as “Hawgwash” 2004. As there was no winner in 2004, the 355th Fighter Wing was selected to host the 2006 event. It was held from March 22nd-25th at Davis Monthan Air Force Base, Arizona. Hawgsmoke 2006 coincided with the 30th Anniversary of the A-10; consequently, over 140 aircraft flew in to take part. The 303rd Fighter Squadron from Whiteman Air Force Base, Missouri, emerged the winner. In turn, the 303rd hosted Hawgsmoke 2008 at Smoky Hill Range, Kansas. The free listing tool. WWII Speed Graphic US Army Air Force USAAF Camera Ground Type C-3 Graflex 4×5
Camera : Camera-Ground, Type C-3 Folmer Graflex Anniversary Speed Graphic “45” (4X5 format). Kodak Ektar 127mm f 4.7 in a recently-serviced Supermatic shutter. Film Holders: 1 ea. Camera Back: Graflex Graphic “Spring back”. Bellows: Fair with repairs. Clear split image; not adjusted for current lens. This is a WWII United States Army Air Force C-3 Speed Graphic. It was officially issued with one of several known between-lens shutters; in this case, the black Supermatic shutter. This camera worked, as of today’s testing. No warranties of usability or results for this gear, a bit older than most of us! Here is a partial list of adjustments made. The Supermatic shutter was cleaned, inspected, lubricated and speeds tested to within 20% of normal, which is damn good for a 70-odd year old. The rear focal plane curtain shutter was cleaned and lubricated such that it operates throughout all speeds without bouncing or stalling. The bellows was inspected and potential for leaks was found, because this bellows was constructed from an early fabric that tends toward brittleness. I would still shoot film with this although I would not leave a dark slide open except when ready to shoot. Cosmetic cleaning and restoration was made to the camera’s exterior. The camera worked well enough at this point, and met or exceeded civilian needs for making pictures. Even so, here is a list of adjustments, cleaning, issues, and so on that would, presumably, bring the camera closer to 1944 USAAF recommendations. The Kalart Rangefinder did not measure accurate distances. It has bright and clear image separation. It requires adjustment to be used with the present lens. The camera includes the distance scales, which are the two numbered vernier scale strips with arrows, often located along the rail. These may be out of adjustment. Presently, the most accurate focusing must be made using the ground glass. Which I personally trust more than these other focusing measurements, anyway. Cosmetically, There are issues including. A hole in the tube finder has been covered with fabric tape. The rear door is bent or warped. Corners and edges of the leatherette have been worn through in spots. Dust and grime are apparent in hard-to-reach places. Lens glass shows signs of attempted cleaning, scratches, and pitting not immediately visible except under magnification, and may affect image sharpness in critical circumstances. The 127mm f4.7 Kodak Ektar lens has glass that is good. It can be trusted to produce good negatives, albeit the mentioned imperfections. The shutter was recently cleaned and was operated throughout its range within repeatable reliability and within surprisingly normal tolerances, given its antiquity. The USAAF name plate shows corrosion, wear, and small dents; it is still clearly readable. Issued, likely, around 1942-43. Star Wars hipsters have plundered most of this period’s original flash synchronizers and have inflated prices completely beyond reason, to the ruin of many of these historical artifacts. (Excuse the resentment of serious camera people:). I honor those whose images had been captured by some of these cameras: An uncle, a US Navy gunner in the 1942/45 Pacific Theater, in a B-24 Liberator. My father, US Army Corporal, who was in the 1944-45 Battle of the Bulge. While these men are gone, I like to think that we care for these cameras as tools of a vital story. My approach is to clean these and get them working and looking squared away, with an attempt to make them as useful as possible. I have studied the Graflex Speed Graphic since 1983. Keep gear exercised–work the shutters through all of its speeds a few times a month. No warranties of usability or results for this gear, a bit older than most of us! You will find most folks very accommodating and willing to help with any problems or suggestions. Please do not expect or negotiate extra discounts over stated costs, as there are real costs for packaging and driving. We do usually interpret things in favor of buyers. We leave feedback AFTER buyers have indicated their satisfaction through their feedback. If you are not satisfied, it will be because you did not allow us to help solve a problem. Otherwise, the item may become unavailable for sale. It is just to discourage spoofs and robots; no offense. WWII US Army Air Force USAAF Camera Ground Type C-3 Graflex 4×5 Speed Graphic
Camera : Air Force, US Army (USAAF) Gov’t issued Camera, Ground, Type. Folmer Graflex Anniversary Speed Graphic “45” (4X5 format). (about 160mm) f 4.5 in a tested Graphex shutter. Lens is clear, produces well-defined images; may have typical signs of aging and microscopic cleaning scratches, etc. Film Holders: 1 ea. Camera Back: Graflex Graphic “Spring back”. Bellows: fair; has worn areas and brittleness in corners of pleats; pinholes are not immediately apparent. Clear split image; focus matches the ground glass and focus scale with some variance at infinity. Other items: Please note the particularly scarce “3-dot window” as seen on the tube finder; see in pictures. This is a WWII United States Army Air Force C-3 Speed Graphic. It was officially issued with one of several known between-lens shutters; in this case, the somewhat scarce Graphex shutter, with Optar lens. It is not known whether this was the original lens. This camera worked, as of today’s testing. No warranties of usability or results for this gear, a bit older than most of us! It has been partially restored to factory specs, according to the official 1944 USAAF C-3 service guide. The most critical items were completed, but not all adjustments were made. Here is a partial list of adjustments made. Front standard, front door, and rails are square, perpendicular and parallel with respect to the film plane, within specs. The Graphex shutter was cleaned, inspected, lubricated and speeds tested to within 20% of normal, which is damn good for a 70-odd year old. Bed rails were adjusted such that they were made to intersect a flat plane according to specs. The rear focal plane curtain shutter was cleaned and lubricated such that it operates throughout all speeds without bouncing or stalling. The bellows and focal plane curtain were inspected and while no holes or light leaks were found, they could appear at any time in the old silk; I would not leave a dark slide open except when ready to shoot. Minimal cosmetic cleaning and restoration was made to the camera’s exterior; some of this may have been done previously. The camera worked well enough at this point, and met or exceeded “civilian” needs for making pictures. Please consider keeping these rare parts with the original cameras. The veterans who had some of these cameras I offer included a US Navy gunner in the 1942/44 Pacific Theater, in a B-24 Liberator. Another, a US Army Corporal, was in the 1944-45 European Theater of the war. Both of them shared my interest in wartime cameras. These men are gone now, and I like to think that we care for these cameras as tools of the story-telling trade.
