USAF U. S. Air Force Flight P-1A Helmet Ms 2201 Oxygen B 8 Goggles Mask Bag
USAF MBU-20/P Oxygen Mask Size X-Small Narrow MFG Gentex 02/03/04
Air Force Flight Helmet rare Mid to late 1990s Oxygen mask set Extremely U. S. A
This is the so-called Combat Edge model of the U. Air Force HGU-55P flight helmet with rear head pressurization system. The oxygen mask is the exclusive MBU-20/P. The present model was acquired via an American aviation-related Surplus Shop around 1998. The year of manufacture of the rear head pressurized airbag is 1991, and the year of manufacture of the interior thermoplastic liner is 1993, so I think it was used in those years and then released as a Surplus. The size of the shell is unknown as there is no manufacturing tag, but I think the shell is the same as the airbag with the LARGE size indicated on the airbag. The condition of the original helmet is as follows: both the interior and exterior of the helmet have reasonable signs of use and dirt, and there are some minor cracks on the edge rolls of the leather. However, it is not torn. The interior is complete with radio ear receivers and there are no missing parts including the wiring harnesses, but the ear pads are a little thin due to deterioration of the built-in sponges. The visor stopper on the top of the shell also shows signs of modification. 1991 is also an early model year for Combat Edge, and it is likely that this model was modified from the standard HGU-55P. The oxygen mask is dated 1994, which is correct for its age. The size is medium-narrow. Condition is generally good, the only thing missing is the exhaust valve cover on the right side of the body. That is the only item missing. This particular model is very rare among such Combat Edge models, as it was made in the very early stages of production and was actually used. Air Force Flight Helmet USAF P1 modified P-4A helmet A-14B oxygen mask real 1950
This set includes a U. Air Force P-1 modified P-4A flight helmet, A-14B oxygen mask, and helmet bag. Air Force introduced FRP hard-shell flight helmets with the P-1 in the early 1950s, followed by the P-2 in the mid-1950s, and in the mid-1950s, a movable visor was attached to the shell in place of the goggles that had been used with the helmet. This was the P-3. In the late 1950s, the new P-4 was introduced, and as the early P-1 and P-2 models became obsolete, the visor mechanism and headset receiver were modified by the military to the latest P-4A specifications. That is the specification of the helmet presented here. The distinguishing point of the modified version is that the AF decal on the front of the hard shell overlaps the rail of the visor mechanism, while the one produced as P-4A from the beginning has the AF decal moved to the side of the head. The inner harness is not marked with the model name, but is a replacement harness for modification. While the outer shell has some paint peeling and scratches, the inner harness, ear receivers, and oxygen mask clip tabs are in brand new condition with almost no signs of use. However, all of the tags, including the original tag, which should have been attached to the inside of the shell to indicate modified, are missing. The oxygen mask is an A-14, which was used from World War II, but the one combined with this piece is an improved A-14B produced at the end of the 1950s, which is also correct for the era. Damage includes the aforementioned paint peeling and scratches on the shell exterior, as well as the loss of one of the right side screws used to secure the visor to the frame, but this does not cause the visor to rattle. This is a rare authorized modification. The P-4A with a clean interior, almost unused after the modification, is a rarity. Also included is a helmet bag from the same era. This helmet bag is also rare. The mannequin head in the photo is for photo shooting and is not included in the product. We take note of serial numbers and images of evidence to prevent substitution.
