This is a “Holder, Chart, Let Down” according to the data plate on the back, I think I would call it a pilots lapboard. According to the NSN (National Stock Number) this piece is FSCAP or Flight Safety Critical Aircraft Part. The chart holder is unique in that it is lit and has a very heavy duty clear cover that will take all the abuse you can give it while trying to write down a change in your flight plan while getting buffeted around in your F-101 Voodoo. You can see in the glass of this lapboard that it has been used by a pilot to jot down frequencies. I see the frequency 135.72 on the glass – Maybe the last time this was used was flying into Olympia Regional Airport in Washington. This is a piece of USAF memorabilia that is unique in that it still bears the handwriting of the pilot who used it, and it gives an indication of where he was flying with 4 different frequencies listed on the board. This would make a nice collectable piece that could inspire conversation and conjecture about its use. This item is in the category “Collectibles\Militaria\Militaria (Date Unknown)\Air Force”.
