Listing is for (1) cap as shown. The basis for my determination that this is a WWII-era cap is as follows. The eagle insignia has a height of 2 3/4 and made of pewter, this eagle was favored by pilots during the war. The buttons holding on the strap are a pre-1955 version, going back to the 1930’s. The cap has a card holder on the inside. The card (which would be very difficult to remove, looks as if someone tried) bears the name Harold Leroy Graybill, Lt. Colonel, United States Air Force. A bit of research led me to a distinguished veteran with the aforementioned name (He passed away in 2004 in the same small city I live in) who, according to his obituary, flew C-47’s during WWII. Still, there is a possibility that the cap is post-war, as Lt. Graybill served his country for 30 years. I did polish the Eagle, there is a line between a nice patina and just plain blacked-out. Is this case, the later was true. Other than that I used a clothing brush to remove lint, and used a bit of leather lotion on the strap and headband. Hats off (no pun) to Lt. Graybill for his distinguished service to our country. I hope his cap finds a place in a collection befitting its historical significance. Please review all photos carefully. A very rare pair of WW2 era Barrie flying gloves, made from supple black leather with woolen cuffs. They each have a crows foot stamp and the year 1942, large size. Excellent condition, save for some crazing to the popper fasteners.

Rare pair of vintage 6913th Electronic Security Squadron glass beer mugs featuring the unit’s Black Cat insignia and “Ready to Fight” motto. The 6913 ESS was a U. Air Force Electronic Security Command unit stationed in Augsburg, West Germany, during the Cold War. Its Black Cat emblem was officially approved in 1980, and the squadron remained active until 1991. An extensive online search found no exact examples of either decorated mug and no other matching pair, making these exceptionally difficult pieces of 6913 ESS unit memorabilia to locate. Both are heavy clear-glass 0.5-liter mugs with multicolor squadron emblems, gold-tone rims, and substantial handles. They are two different glass styles and are being offered together as a coordinated pair. Taller ribbed mug: approximately 7 inches tall. Both are in good used vintage condition with no noted chips or cracks. Each has approximately 25-50% age-related loss to the gold-tone rim decoration.
