WWII US Army Air Forces Wool Uniform Shirt Corporal Chevron Original 14.5×32. Original World War II U. Army Air Forces enlisted wool service shirt featuring original Army Air Forces shoulder patch and Corporal rank insignia. Olive drab wool flannel construction with two chest pockets and original buttons. Displays honest service wear including several small moth/burn holes and scattered stains as shown. A solid original WWII uniform piece with great collector appeal. Here’s what stands out. Army Air Forces shoulder patch (blue round patch with white star, red center, and gold wings). Two service stripes/chevrons on each sleeve indicating the enlisted rank of Corporal (CPL). WWII-style wool service shirt in OD (olive drab) shade. Size marked 14½ x 32, a desirable smaller collector size. Appears to retain its original insignia rather than having been put together.

Army Air Force patch with an armament skill patch on the right sleeve. Also button fly trousers in drab olive green wool, with a matching crusher cap that does not have the bill attached. The jacket is a lighter green khaki and has been modified with a velcro strip where the buttons used to be, but the button holes are still there and it could probably be restored. The pants are 30 x 33 and the shirt is 35. No size on the cap but it measures 22 circumference head size (size 7). The jacket is similar to the shirt in size. These items were found together so I assume they are all from the same soldier. A lovely 1942 dated WAAF Corporals tunic. The Women’s Auxiliary Air Force (WAAF) was formed in June 1939, with its members going on to be employed in most jobs the RAF had to offer, including drivers, equipment stores, Intelligence, Control Tower, mechanics, Barrage Balloons, and even in the Air Transport Auxiliary when in 1944 a group were seconded to the ATA specifically to be flight trained. This early war tunic is in a good clean condition throughout and has no rips or tears that I can see. It is ranked to a Corporal and has the standard shoulder eagles at the top of each sleeve. It has no moth that I can see although it is of course a used item. But in lovely condition. Size is as shown on the label.
