For sale is a USN USAF Swiss Made Aircraft 8 Day Clock Type by Revue (Thommen). It was removed from a control panel which included a compass, oil-pressure gauge and altimeter. This listing is just for the clock. The second-hand was not ticking when it was first handed to us. I lightly shook it and it started ticking. It worked for about 5 minutes and then stopped again. We manually hand-gyroed it once more and again it started ticking… This time for about an hour. Prior to turning in for the night I jostled it once more and this morning I was pleased to see it still ticking and throughout the photo session. We did not attempt to wind it up since the issue is likely a desperate need for cleaning and applying new lubrication, or at the very least adding lubrication. We will let the next owner decide how to proceed. Were it mine, I wouldn’t ant anyone opening the back and delving into areas beyond their pay-grade. We are unsure of the age but it is likely from the 70s or earlier. Aside from the hesitancy of the second hand, there is no other functional shortcoming. It is in very good overall aesthetic condition with no indications of abuse or neglect. It spent it’s life here in southern California where the mild climate and moderate seasonal swing tends to be kinder to vintage and antique mechanisms compared to more weather volatile regions of the United States. We will be listing a 2nd Thommen clock today along with other related items like the Grimes meter lights. Please let us know of any interest in the balance of control panel items we mentioned.
