United States Air Force Air Training Publication June 1955 VINTAGE VERY RARE
This is a very rare, vintage publication intended for members of the United States Air Force. This is a June 1955 issue of “AIR Training” publication, featuring a Vought F-8 Crusader Jet. The Vought F-8 Crusader was a supersonic, carrier-based jet fighter aircraft. The first prototype of the F-8 Crusader flew in March 1955, just a few months before this publication was issues. The aircraft was known as the “Last of the Gunfighters” because it was the last U. Navy fighter designed with guns as its primary weapon. A notable feature of the F-8 was its variable-omcidence wing, which could be raised during take-off and landing to improve the pilot’s visibility and allow for slower approach speeds.
