This reproduction was made by myself as an exact copy of an original 1932 Pattern Life Preserver on display at the Battle of Britain museum in Hawkinge, Kent. It is made of the correct weight pure Irish linen. The inside of the collar has been proofed in the same style as an original. This reproduction uses many original components including buttons, buckles, webbing tape and even a wartime era Lightning Sliding Fastener. The instructions and labels on the Mae West have been meticulously matched to copy the ones found on numerous originals. The Mae West also features a set of Kapoks stuffed with hand teased Java Kapok as per the original specifications. Ive also included an mock inflation tube to complete the look. This reproduction is true to an original size Medium and intended to be suitable for a man of a chest measurement 36 – 40 inches, however it can probably be worn up to 44 inch chest over a service dress. In my own opinion this is the best reproduction on the market. A lot of time and expense has been spent in getting it as close in appearance and feel to an original. With a little bit of age and wear it will probably fool most experts. Perfect for display in a collection or worn at a reenactment. This reproduction will not disappoint.
