Ww2 RAF MK8 flying goggles, nice boxed pair of goggles as worn by RAF aircrew and pilots. Ubiquitous in images of late war pilots and aircrew. This pair appear to be lightly used and come in their original box with tinted lenses and demist kit. The goggles themselves are in good used condition retaining a good amount of their original paint. Face chamois cushions are still soft with some light soiling to them. The lenses being very clear and clean, as are the tinted ones. Strap is in great condition too, retaining very good elasticity. The original cardboard transit box itself is in good condition too with some soiling but no major rips or tears. Marked to the top of the lid and side with “GOGGLES MKVIII”, A. M crown mark, stores reference number 22C/930. Overall a good complete set of flying goggles ideal for completing an RAF pilot/aircrew display. This is a really superb example of a hard to find item, in near perfect condition. All buttons are present, brass, Kings Crown and unaltered, the lining is also in superb condition, I really love this one, but it’s too small for me.. See photos but please not the chest is not a 44″ as it might appear from the image, more 42 or 40″ – however the coat would easily alter, with the simple removal of buttons and re-positioning of them out or in, as required. (I have 2 more RAF greatcoats, but not in this condition sadly). In case I need to say, this is for the coat, epualetts and integral belt. The coat came with King Crown buttons, which indicate pre 1953, however there is no label to tie this down to a specific date of making.
