Size is large and in good used condition with no rips or tears. Few marks and scuffs. Complete with original 1944 bladder which has a small vintage my lip repair but is still working and inflating as should. An absolute GEM for collectors. No tears, damage or holes. This reproduction was made by myself as an exact copy of an original 1932 Pattern Life Preserver on display at the Battle of Britain museum in Hawkinge, Kent. It is made of the correct weight pure Irish linen. The inside of the collar has been proofed in the same style as an original. This reproduction uses many original components including buttons, buckles, webbing tape and even a wartime era Lightning Sliding Fastener. The instructions and labels on the Mae West have been meticulously matched to copy the ones found on numerous originals. The Mae West also features a set of Kapoks stuffed with hand teased Java Kapok as per the original specifications. Ive also included an mock inflation tube to complete the look. This reproduction is true to an original size Medium and intended to be suitable for a man of a chest measurement 36 – 40 inches, however it can probably be worn up to 44 inch chest over a service dress. In my own opinion this is the best reproduction on the market. A lot of time and expense has been spent in getting it as close in appearance and feel to an original. With a little bit of age and wear it will probably fool most experts. Perfect for display in a collection or worn at a reenactment. This reproduction will not disappoint. WWII Era US Army Air Force AAF Pilot Mae West Life Preserver Vest Type B-5 Complete w/Inflators – Very Nice Condition. This is an inflatable vest that was used by AAF Pilots and Flight Crewmen During & After WWII. It was designed to be inflated by a CO2 cartridge or it can be manually inflated by the mouth inflation tube. The CO2 inflation mechanism is still present, with the CO2 cartridges in the mechanisms. The vest is flexible, not stiff and cracking. No rips or tears. It has all the straps. It is used, see photo’s for condition. It has the US AAF markings, no visible dates. This would make a great accessory to add to your US Army Air Force Collection. Check out my other items. WW2 US MAE WEST LIFE PRESERVER. As used by the US Air forces and the US Paratroopers on D day. All the straps, buckles and metal hardware are fully intact and are in good condition. The two black rubber mouth inflation tubes are in good condition and the rubber is not perished. The one tube does have a small split at the end (see photo 11). Both CO2 cartridge holders are still present and are in excellent condition. They are still complete with the pull cords that still move freely. The life preserver is marked in the bottom corner and reads. Dated April 23rd 1945. It does have and shows some staining and marks to the material due to age but overall the life preserver it is in excellent condition. I have not tried / attempted to inflate it. I try to describe items the very best i can and take the best photos as possible. Please check my feedback.
