USAAF 3rd US ARMY AIR FORCE Bullion PATCH WW2 ORIGINAL RARE VINTAGE MILITARY SSI. Condition is pre-owned but nice! This belonged to my Great Uncle. It was created on 20 June 1941 as successor to the previous United States Army Air Corps and is the direct predecessor of the United States Air Force, today one of the six armed forces of the United States. The AAF was a component of the United States Army, which on 2 March 1942[1] was divided functionally by executive order into three autonomous forces: the Army Ground Forces, the United States Army Services of Supply (which in 1943 became the Army Service Forces), and the Army Air Forces. Each of these forces had a commanding general who reported directly to the Army Chief of Staff. My father was a Colonel in the USAF and collected patches from every Air Force, Army, Navy and Marine unit he visited all over the Country and World to give to me as souvenirs. USAAF 449th Bomb Group 15th Air Force WWII Flying Horsemen Ashtray Italy
USAAF 449th Bomb Group 15th Air Force WWII Ashtray Italy. World War II United States Army Air Forces 449th Bomb Group, 15th Air Force, made in Italy. The group was known as the “Flying Horsemen”, and were based in Italy from January 1944 through May 1945. They completed just over 250 combat missions over Europe and Eastern Asia. Bas Relief style with the 449th Winged Horse (Pegasus) insignia. See detailed info below. +Peppering – typically visible in the lighter colored glazes. This peppering is noticeable throughout the top surface. It actually looks a bit neat within the blue coloring. +Crazing – very little to none visible in the top surface of the ashtray, as well as the side borders. The glaze hides it well if there are any. Didn’t notice any HEAVY cracks anywhere. +Glaze Scaling – there are A LOT of visible areas (seen in the close up photos provided) where some once glazed sections, have broken or chipped off… Especially around all the corners and edge-lipped areas where you can see some layers have worn away the glaze. +Glaze Skip/Crawl – mostly the underbelly of the ashtray is where there wasn’t any glaze added – you can see in this piece that whoever glazed it, did get some near the top edge, as well as some splashes near the base where it set in. +Firing Lines – only ones I can note are on the underside before it comes to a point at the base. +Chips – A small one noted on the utmost tip of the Pegasus’s wing (perpendicular to the ear). There are at least x6 counted pin-hole sized holes on the non-glazed under belly which were more than likely air bubbles that cracked during firing. ALL flaws and worn areas have been photographed. If you wish to see more side of the piece NOT pictured, feel free to message. +Discoloration – normal from age, wear, and it being stored under artificial light fixtures. Photo #1 & #11 were taken inside. Photo #12 & #13 were taken outside on an overcast but bright day. 9 ounces weight. No Markings/Stamps/Hallmarks of any kind. Painted Terra Cotta Material. USAAF Army Air Force E-11.50 Recoil Adaptor Project. B17 B24 Waste Gun Mount
Ive decided to part with an extremely rare E11. 50 recoil adapter / waste gun mount. It in need of a little more restoration but the bits do turn up from time to time if you have the patience. Basically its missing the 3 thumb screws, triggers. It has reproduction grips. The ultra rare top casting is in need of restoration but a good casting company can fill that hole without to much trouble. These very rarely come on the market so dont miss the opportunity. WW2 USAAF TSgt 5th Air Force Uniform Group With Aussie Made Jacket-Complete
WW2 USAAF TSgt 5th Air Force Uniform Group With Aussie Made Jacket-Complete. 1 Jacket: The jacket is a classic Australian made OD wool battle jacket with plastic buttons, button cuffs and double button closure on the bottom. There are no holes or flaws that I can find. The jackets is labeled insideN418 1943 Made in Australia, Size 38L. The collar brass are clip back with smooth faced clips. There is an oil cloth discharge patch sewn above the right pocket. There is a pin back setoff 3″ Air Crew wings above the left pocket and marked “Sterling on the back. The ribbon bar is Australian made and pin back. There is a sterling marked Qualification badge with two “radio” bars. There is an Australian made silk embroidered on dark blue wool felt 5th Air Force patch sewn on the upper left sleeve. 2 Trousers: The trousers are a standard pair of mustard OD with a button fly and two back pockets. The trousers are labeled Lion Brand Mfg. 19, 1943 30 X 29, Phila. These trousers are in very good condition and there are no holes or flaws that I can find. 3 Shirt: The shirt is a standard EM serge wool two pocket style that is custom made. The shirt is labeled inside West Point, Pre-Shrunk. It shows it to be a size 15-35? But the stamp is quite faded and barely legible There are no holes or flaws to the shirt that I can find. Chevrons on both sleeves. There is an Australian made silver and gold bullion embroidered on dark blue wool felt patch sewn on the upper left sleeve. 4 Garrison Cap: The enlisted garrison cap is made of OD wool gabardine and has gold and blue USAAF braided piping on it. The cap has a leather sweatband and is lined in OD silk. There is no size that I can find. The cap has been worn and there is some slight soling to the leather sweatband. 5 Visor Cap: The visor cap is made of a nice fine and soft OD moleskin.
