Ww2 RAF/USAAF A-11 flying helmet. As used and worn by American pilots/aircrew during ww2. This example is worn and the leather does have some peeling to the chroming. It is not too bad however and the helmet does display very nicely. The leather is still very soft, supple and strong. No splits or tears are evident. It is wired with a Y type loom and ANB-H-1 receivers both in lovely condition with no issues. Interestingly the red plug is an air ministry marked example, possible indicating this example may have been used by an RAF airmen. American aircraft supplied to the RAF often came with flying equipment ready for use. And the RAF would use compatible flying equipment in American aircraft if necessary. The interior of the helmet is very nice and lightly soiled showing minimal use. A nice label to the interior indicating its an A-11 helmet, made by The Selby Shoe Co. ” And property of the “AIR FORCES, US ARMY. So definitely a wartime example. All straps, buckles, prestuds and oxygen mask clip are in place and in good condition. Size is marked on the label as a medium and it fits my displays heads which are around a size 55-56. Overall a good displayable helmet, perfect for display in a RAF collection, museum display or reinactor display. Open to all offers just drop me a message. The helmet and mask have MATCHING aluminum laundry tag bands. This set was issued to the aviator as you see here. See similar image in Mick. One is attached to O. 2 mask strap, other to rear goggle strap of helmet. Utilizing the 4 matching digits of the helmet and goggle tags-Im certain that someone could x-ref that portion of the individuals ASN. His amazing set, near mint condition set is comprised of. WWII Vented Pilot Goggles, model USAC Type B-7. Offered in excellent condition. By The Chas Fischer Spring Co. WWII USAAF Leather flight helmet type A-11 made by the Sel. By Shoe Company Size Medium. This is a gem of a find. It is an original 1944 issue USAAF Type A-11 Intermediate leather flying helmet. Helmet is in very good overall condition. Leather is soft and supple. Original label indicates this is a desirable size large. Wing & star insignia on the front left side. Chin strap assembly is complete and functional. Factory applied oxygen mask snaps. The A-11 was a favored flying helmet. This helmet is a fine example of the A-11 Intermediate flying helmet. Great size and condition.
