This is a gem of a find. It is an early war issue 1. Pattern Royal Air Force Tropical D flying helmet. It is in used very good condition. The first pattern had four goggle straps and large neck flap. These helmets cam in four sizes 1 thru 4. This is marked as a size 3. Chin strap assembly is complete and fully functional. Large whiskey cup ear cups are in good condition and getting a little bit stiff. No rips or tears. The first pattern D helmets were made in small numbers and very hard to find today. These were used in tropical areas and were favored by pilots due to the lightweight and cool characteristics.. A beautiful original early war flying helmet. US Army Air Forces B-17 bomber pilots and air crewmen early in WW2 were issued the classic B-3 sheepskin leather flight jacket to protect against frigid temperatures at high altitudes. Original AAF WW2 B-3 flight jackets are quite rare today. This particular piece in excellent condition. Minimal cracking in leather, mainly found near wrist cuffs. One discolored area inside on left pocket. Chest (zipped, measured across then doubled):52. Ultra rare 24 hour World War II-era U. Army Air Force 24 hour Hammond Postal Telegraph wall clock. Clock is in beautiful 95% plus condition (I would rate it higher but for the slightly age yellowed decal) and keeps perfect time. Outside diameter is 20 and face is 15 across. Movement is not the bichronous original but a contemporary replacement and the original braided fabric power cord has been replaced. The only missing component is the round fiberboard back but it is not needed for function or display. I have seen several pictures of WWII-era shops and factories and they all had one of these high up on the wall. You will be hard pressed to find another such clock in this condition and it also has interest as a military artifact. The item “WWII-Era U. S.
