Ww2 RAF/USAAF A-11 flying helmet. As used and worn by American pilots/aircrew during ww2. This example is worn and the leather does have some peeling to the chroming. It is not too bad however and the helmet does display very nicely. The leather is still very soft, supple and strong. No splits or tears are evident. It is wired with a Y type loom and ANB-H-1 receivers both in lovely condition with no issues. Interestingly the red plug is an air ministry marked example, possible indicating this example may have been used by an RAF airmen. American aircraft supplied to the RAF often came with flying equipment ready for use. And the RAF would use compatible flying equipment in American aircraft if necessary. The interior of the helmet is very nice and lightly soiled showing minimal use. A nice label to the interior indicating its an A-11 helmet, made by The Selby Shoe Co. ” And property of the “AIR FORCES, US ARMY. So definitely a wartime example. All straps, buckles, prestuds and oxygen mask clip are in place and in good condition. Size is marked on the label as a medium and it fits my displays heads which are around a size 55-56.
