Note: This is a vintage REPRO jacket…. Late 1970’s accurate early reproduction A-2 Flight Jacket, superb patina, size 42. One-off custom painted artwork depicting 8th Air Force B-17 “Quittin’ Time” of the 100 Bomb Group. The painting has been aged to give a true vintage WW2 flight jacket appearance. Perfect for display or wearing, especially reenactors. The jacket is horsehide, one of the late 1970’s desirable due to their accuracy at the time, Avirex A-2. Not to be confused with their inferior later jackets, these early jackets pre-dated the first Aero and Eastman jackets and at the time were the best available reproductions, they are of equal accuracy and quality as early Eastman, Real McCoys and Aero repro jackets. Correct cotton lining, Talon brass zip, collar snaps and hook, wool knits (in good order with the usual piling associated with the early knits). The label is missing but this is definitely an early Avirex. I added the custom paint artwork depicting a genuine B-17 of the famed 100 Bomb Group. I then carefully aged and antiqued the artwork to give the look of a true WW2 vintage jacket. The jacket looks and would suit any reenactor or for display and offered at a price way below custom jackets from other repro makers. Size is a 42 and fits as such. Measurements are 22″ pit to pit, 19″ shoulders, 25″ shoulder to cuff, 24″ base of collar down back. I a man 5’10 and wear a 42/44 in jackets and it fits me fine. Condition is vintage but very good, leather has superb character, seal brown with areas of a reddish hue, great wear and patina, a few scuffs at shoulders, zip works fine. See all photos for detail.
