Vintage GE General Electric Co. USAF Turkey Patch AN/FPS-17(XW-1) AN/FPS-79
This is a extremely rare original & authentic 1950’s-1960’s United States Military Armed Forces & General Electric Company – Pirinçlik Air Base Sewned Patch/Badge. Given to those home was part of the (GE) VHF AN/FPS-17 radar development Program. Featuring the General Electric Company (GE blue LOGO), the AN/FPS-17 and AN/FPS-79 radar systems embroidery, Pirinçlik Common Defense Installation – Diyarbakir, Turkey and a beautiful embroidery Radar system design. The AN/FPS-17 Space Surveillance Radar developed by the Rome Air Development Center (RADC) was the first surveillance radar system designed to detect objects in space. {note} this was a top secret program at the time that GE didnt make public. And this is just one of the many Military & (GE) General Electric Co. Items that was left to me by father whom worked for GE and on this project while serving is duty in the Air Force USAF. The patch is an original item from the period Cold War 1950’s-1960’s (late)era and was made by GE in Türkiye for our US Armed Forces that was stationed and part of the program. It is a unique collectible for militaria enthusiasts and those interested in vintage electronics. The patch is in great shape and ready to be added to any collection.
