28 issues of the Sourdough Sentinel from 1950 and 1951, the official newspaper of the Elmendorf Air Force Base. The issues are not consecutive, and range from Feb. This set includes a special Christmas 1950 Souvenir Edition, as well as an undated Season’s Greetings issue with printed notes from all 50 Governors, as well as President Truman. The issues are in very presentable condition, with only early browning, but the pages are not brittle. Due to its strategic positioning with Russia, the Elmendorf Air Force Base played a large role in US Air Force operations during the Cold War.
