About as complete a group as one could ask for, this is the WWII archive of Staff Sergeant George Knop, a B-24 gunner in the 320th Bomb Squadron, 90th Bomb Group Jolly Rogers in the 5th AAF. The group has the following highlights. Comprehensive pocket notebook detailing all of his combat missions to include dates, hours, the strength of the flak, bombing results, targets, etc. 3+ foot long signed short snorter with bills labeled with the islands he was on. Wrap brooch Air Medal and box -Photo ID Card -Sterling clutch back A. Utica marked Wings -Dog Tags -Ribbon Bars -Patches (these have a green glue on the back as if removed from a display) -Original Air Medal orders -Certificates, orders, physicals, immunization records, awards card, misc. Documents -Numerous NCO Club cards from bases he was at -1973 book about the B-24 mentioning his unit. Display case is not included. The pieces are vintage and therefore may show signs of age, wear, or patina. At that time, an unpaid item case will automatically be opened. It will be left, but please be patient. HUGE Estate Lot / FIRST Female Air Force General Jeannie M. Holm Uniforms Medals

For your consideration is this museum-quality Estate lot from the FIRST Female General in the Air Force, and the FIRST two-star female General in our Nations History. Much can be found about the long, illustrious life and career of Major General Jeannie M. Holm online, so I will only write in this description what is included in this once in a lifetime offering and allow you to research the historical importance of this collection. ALL of Major General Holm’s uniforms, medals, awards, and correspondence regarding her ground-breaking promotions is included in this sale. I’m hoping this lot makes its way into a museum or public space, but I also understand there may be an opportunity for someone to sell pieces individually to collectors. At this time, we would like to sell it all together. The Uniforms: All uniforms are in Immaculate condition. Each was dry-cleaned after its last use and stored in a smoke free home. There are no moth holes, marks, stains, etc. They are all pristine. Most pieces are marked, stamped, or embroidered with her name. One Complete Set of Service Mess Dress (pictured in the first photo). It includes the original stars/shoulder boards and miniature medals. Two sets of Dress Blues – Both include ribbons, and one includes Major General stars. Blue tops and bottoms (skirts) are included. I’m not sure if there should be white or light blue undershirts as a part of this uniform, or if it’s the same as the one used for the mess dress uniform. Also a point to note, this is the uniform she wore in all the iconic photos of her on the internet. One very rare, 1960’s Female dress white Formal Dinner blouse and jacket. I couldn’t find a ton of info online about these, but believe it was worn with the same long skirt as the Service Mess Dress, and that the shoulder boards are interchangeable with the uniform listed below. One very rare, 1950’s/1960’s Female Formal Dinner Dress Uniform. This comes with a full length skirt, and two-star shoulder boards. Medals and Awards: There are too many to list. Major General Holm’s Distinguished Service Medals and original signed certificate are present. There are several hundred of various letters of appreciation/congratulations from prominent civilians (most unresearched) all the way up to the Secretary of the Air Force. Approximately 50-75 of these signed letters are from fellow Air Force generals congratulating her on her promotion to one star and two star General. Other notable signed items are listed below. Signed Photo & Letter from Sheila E. Widnall, Secretary of the Air Force, dated 1994. Signed Photo and Letter from Deborah R. Lee, Assistant Secretary of Defense, dated 1994. Signed Public Service Award from the Commandant of the Coast Guard, P. Signed Photo from Elizabeth Dole. Undated, Signed Photo from Harold Brown, Secretary of the Air Force. Undated, Signed Photo from John McLucas, Secretary of the Air Force. Undated, Signed Photo from the President’s pilot, Ralph Albertazzie. Signed photo from the Second Director of the WAF, Colonel Mary Jo Shelley. Signed Photo from Olympic Gold Medalist, Micki King. Signed Photo of Air Force Chief of Staff David C. Signed Photo of Secretary of the Air Force, Townsend Hoopes. There are many, many others. Some are illegible and require further research by the lots new owner. There are many, many photos from the span of Major General Holm’s military career. Some are shown in the listing photos, many are not. There are several (approximately 50 total) speech scripts, newspaper articles, and book deal correspondences, and an original signed “Presidential Commission on the Assignment of Women in the Armed Forces” reply to and from the commissioner, Robert T. Herres, and General Holm. General Holm’s original “General Officer Flag” is included and is pictured in several photos. It is in mint condition, but has wrinkles from decades of storage. This flag could be ironed by its new owner, and would display as new. Outside of the monetary value of several of the rare items in this collection, This is a very important part of the History of the United States Air Force, our Armed Forces, our Nation, and Womens equality. WWII 15th Air Force Radio Operator’s M41 Field Jacket & Medals Lot

Interesting lot from Staff Sergeant William P. Ward; medals include Air Medal with reverse officially engraved S/SGT / William P. Ward, ribbon bar displays one silver and two bronze oak leaf clusters, other medals include Army Good Conduct, American Campaign, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign, and WWII Victory. The ETO and American Campaigns are likely later additions to complete his awards, with a crimp brooch suspension. The campaign medals have heavily worn and abraded ribbons. Also includes his Air Crew wing badge, unmarked clutchback with proper wartime clutches. His Model 41 Field Jacket has S/Sgt rank chevrons, right sleeve with 1st design HQ, ETOUSA shoulder insignia, communication specialist cuff insignia, and left sleeve has 15th Air Force shoulder insignia. Front chest has brown leather AAF name tag with gilt embossed W. Leather has stained the olive drab cotton body of the jacket. Interior has size tag in the collar and stenciled white cotton name tape along the back lower edge WILLIAM P. You can see where two overseas service bars and one service stripe were attached to the lower left cuff but are no longer present. The M41 has a bit of the normal wear and damage along the collar and cuff edges. Also includes his issue olive drab wool trousers and waistbelt. Fresh out of a local estate comes this fantastic Named grouping from the family of the WWII Vet. These were all removed from the display board as seen in the first picture. They do have some glue residue on them and the pins have been cut a little short too as you can see in one of the pictures from whomever installed them onto the display board. There is also a hand typed card listing all of the medals as follows. Bronze Star with 1 Oak Leaf. Asiatic-Pacific Campaign with 2 Bronze Stars. World War 2 Victory. Korean Service with 3 Bronze Stars. Air Force Longevity Service Award with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters. China Yum Hui with Ribbon. China Air Force Mao with Ribbon. HUGE LOT WWII & LATER MEDALS WINGS RIBBON BARS INSIGNIA 8th AIR FORCE 44BG PILOT

Rank insignia (some sterling marked), three pilot wings (all Sterling marked) and a few odds and ends. These items were removed from a very large shadowbox display relating to the career of retired Air Force Colonel Walter I. Bunker flew with the 8th Air Force 44th Bomb Group (Flying Eightballs) during WWII and flew many combat missions including the famous 8/1/1943 Ploesti mission as pilot of B-24 41-24235 “Earthquake McGoon”. Bunker stayed in the Air Force after WWII retiring as a full Colonel. Everything seen in the photos is included in the lot. 35 medals with some duplicate medals as seen. The bronze star is named to Bunker and is the only named medal in the lot. Some appear to be WWII era medals with the bulk of them being post war. The lot also includes many ribbon bars, WWII & later rank insignia, 3 sets of pilot wings, a 1950’s? Leather command pilot namestrip, a 1953 dated dead reckoning computer, a few tattered newspaper clippings, and a tattered WWII original snapshot photo of a battle damaged B-24. The items are mainly in poor condition as they were removed from the shadow box display. Most items have had the pins, clutches, catches, etc.. Removed so that they would lay flat in the shadow box. The majority of the items also have age tarnishing/oxidation and glue or glue/mounting paper residue on the backs. Some of the ribbons are faded and medals may exhibit varying degrees of wear & damage. The photo and newspaper clippings are in poor condition with losses and tears. The photo has a Gilette razor logo glued to the left side for some reason. The case for the flight computer has some staining and glue residue. Luckily, the WWII sterling pin backed wing and Korean War era sterling Command Pilot wing are complete and undamaged with just slight signs of glue residue on backs. The second Sterling marked command pilot wing has had the clutch posts broken off as seen. Most of the WWII rank insignia are also complete and exhibit tarnishing & wear and a few have broken pins or catches. Most of the ribbon bars are a mess with glue and paper residue and broken pins.
