The fine item you are considering is an Antique Vintage 1959 U. Air Force Fighter Jet Pilot Helmet Model P-4B. This amazing vintage helmet still has its original label, which states that it’s model P-4B, that it was manufactured June, 5th, 1959, says that it was manufactured by Consolidated Control Corp, and it’s specifically designated as a “Jet” helmet. The helmet looks to still have most of its original hardware, with the visor, metal side attachments and ear pieces still with the helmet. The helmet does show plenty of wear from use, with a sort of split in the outer material in one area (see photos), scuffing, tape on the ear pieces and the interior cushioning foam has sort of deteriorated. Still, this example is in much better condition than many others I’ve seen. Please see my photos to have a look at this nice item.

Up for sale is this US Air Force type P-4B Flight Helmet. It is a size large, made by General Textile mills (Gentex). I believe that this Flying helmet may have been made for export, & was possibly used by the West German Luftwaffe, during the 60’s. I originally bought it whilst in Germany. The liner has a Gentex label, rather than a USAF label. It could also have been a USAF helmet, which had a replacement liner fitted, whilst in service. Condition is “Used”, but in good, solid condition. Originally painted white, it was repainted black, with artwork, at some point. As shown in the photos, the 2 flashes fade from silver to metallic grey. Some overall chipping to the paintwork, but no cracks in the shell. No comms or earphones fitted. Visor is intact & working, but minus the return springs. The perspex visor is in good condition, with some scratches, but no cracks. It could be polished to perfection. The liner is in good shape, though used. Gentex label size is large. The oxygen mask tabs, chinstrap, & nape strap, with it’s leather sheath, are all intact. Some name is faintly visible on the sheath, but I can’t quite read it. The sponge rubber padding in the shell is in great condition, & still quite soft, which is somewhat unusual for a helmet of to this age. The chin & nape straps are darkened by overspray, but may clean up more with some work. Please check the photos for details. The item “USAF P-4B Flight Helmet, Size large. Made by Gentex in 1963. This is an original USAF F-101 Voodoo fighter Combat Pilot Helmet Type P-4B, Large, 62nd Fighter Squadron, Complete. This helmet is in very good condition. It is a size large. It is all original. It has a dark green visor. It also has both earphones and a complete wiring harness. This type of helmet was used by many pilots like those flying the F-101 Voodoo. The squadron emblem is for the 62nd fighter squadron. In the late 1950’s into the 1960’s this squadron was flying the F-101 Voodoo fighter. Thank you for your interest in my auctions.
