Air Force Fire Chief Insignia/ Badge / Ribbon Medal Grouping Desert Storm Era

Super nice estate fresh air force grouping appears to be early 1980s- late 1990s or early 2000s. Lots of obsolete air force badges and some rare insignia! Bought this last year from an estate picker. The grouping appears to have been from a senior enlisted man (Master Sergeant) who reached the fire rank of Fire Chief/ Marshal the highest rank in the AF fire service. The fire protection badge is obsolete now in the air force making them much harder to find then years ago. I believe now they only use the patch. Sadly the set is not named or attributed! I feel like a lot of these semi modern groupings are being split up lately. Down the road nice original groupings are going to be tough to find. If i cant get my asking price or a fair price i will split it down the road or just keep the badges. As for right now i will try to sell it as a grouping! 1x 1984 AF Side Cap, leather band super nice near mint condition. 1x FULL size large Deputy Fire Chief Badge in original box. 1x Mini Badge Fire Chief / Marshal in the original box. A 3rd box that has. 1x firefighter badge mini. 2x assistant fire chief badges mini. 1x deputy fire chief badges. Plus 2x extra clutch backs. (badges are all early pin back obsolete variants dfn). Bag of patch. 5x total rank patches 4x large size 1x small / 3x subdued 2x regular. Also 2x shoulder boards for master sergeant. 9x still sealed ribbons. 26x loose ribbon bars (many w stars or olc oak leaves). Pair of af silver collar disks 2x. Total of 37x individual insignia in bag. (this also tells us he saw combat service in desert storm/ and recieved multiple af commendation medals, multiple meritorious service medals and multiple air force achievement medals & good conduct medals). Pretty neat grouping, a lot of these get split down the road sets like this will he desirable! Sadly no name but exactly as acquired! Pricing was tough here a lot of value present. I do not want to split it but will if i have to down the road. Im bascially charging total what i feel the badges are worth- large size deputy fire chief badge is a tough one to find in the large variant and alone is a 75-100 dollar badge! Price might seem high but at the ask im really only charging for the badges and giving the rest for free…. If its sitting and you want a specific thing message me and we will figure it out! This vintage WW2 USAAF Army Air Force uniform belonged to my grandfather. A copy of the picture of him wearing this uniform is included in this package. Jacket / Coat Size: 36R. Pants Size: W32 / L31. Condition: Both pieces are in good condition for their age. The coat has one moth small moth hole and the pants have a four small holes. Otherwise, the condition seems very good. Patches / Pins Not sure what all of them are, but this is what I came up with… US Army 15th Air Force Patch. Army / Air Force 2 Ribbon Bar. WWII U. S. 9th AIR FORCE PILOT’S IKE JACKET withBULLION WINGS & RIBBON BAR

This is a beautiful World War II U. 9th Air Force officers Ike Jacket with all original insignia and British made shoulder patch that is in excellent condition. Pinned to each epaulet is a STERLING marked Captains bars. The lapels have the officers wing and prop officers insignia and the U. Sewn above the left breast pocket is a beautiful bullion pilots wing which is with a wonderful dark, age toned patina. Below this is a two-place ribbon bar consisting of the Air Medal with 3 oak leaf clusters and the European Theater of Operations Medal with 3 bronze campaign stars. Sewn to the left shoulder is a nice British made 9th Air Force Patch hand embroidered on blue felt. The left cuff is without any overseas. Pinned above the right breast pocket is a pin back gold framed Presidential Unit Citation. The jacket is with a buckle type waist closure strap. This uniform appears to have started off as an officers blouse which the owner later had modified to its current configuration. The three front brass officers buttons were replaced by dark brown plastic buttons with the breast pockets retaining their original, deluxe cut-out brass buttons. The interior of the jacket is lined with O. There is one interior pocket on the left side that has a Tailors label sewn to the outside that has the Army officers eagle logo over, Regulation Army Officers Uniform. Sewn to the inside of the pocket is a Union Made label and the Quartermasters spec. Tag that reads in part, Uniform, Service, Officers 2-Piece O. Dark Elastique Size 36 Long CODE No 404 Dated November 9, 1943 Philia. Found inside the left breast pocket, and include with the jacket, is a folded copy of, SPECIAL ORDERS NUMBER 121 from, HEADQUARTERS 394TH BOMBARDMENT GROUP (M) AAF Office of the Group Commander. These orders list a number of personnel on both sides who are transferred from the 394th Bombardment Group to the Casual Pool, 70th Reinforcement Depot, AAF Station 385. Also found in the pocket was a folded blank check from, THE COLORADO SAVINGS BANK. There are some pencil notations and figures written on the reverse side. This is a truly fine-looking jacket as worn by one of the members listed on the orders but whose identity has been lost to time. Nevertheless, it remains a significant piece of WWII European Theater aviation. An very nice example in undamaged condition. The item “WWII U. HUGE LOT WWII & LATER MEDALS WINGS RIBBON BARS INSIGNIA 8th AIR FORCE 44BG PILOT

Rank insignia (some sterling marked), three pilot wings (all Sterling marked) and a few odds and ends. These items were removed from a very large shadowbox display relating to the career of retired Air Force Colonel Walter I. Bunker flew with the 8th Air Force 44th Bomb Group (Flying Eightballs) during WWII and flew many combat missions including the famous 8/1/1943 Ploesti mission as pilot of B-24 41-24235 “Earthquake McGoon”. Bunker stayed in the Air Force after WWII retiring as a full Colonel. Everything seen in the photos is included in the lot. 35 medals with some duplicate medals as seen. The bronze star is named to Bunker and is the only named medal in the lot. Some appear to be WWII era medals with the bulk of them being post war. The lot also includes many ribbon bars, WWII & later rank insignia, 3 sets of pilot wings, a 1950’s? Leather command pilot namestrip, a 1953 dated dead reckoning computer, a few tattered newspaper clippings, and a tattered WWII original snapshot photo of a battle damaged B-24. The items are mainly in poor condition as they were removed from the shadow box display. Most items have had the pins, clutches, catches, etc.. Removed so that they would lay flat in the shadow box. The majority of the items also have age tarnishing/oxidation and glue or glue/mounting paper residue on the backs. Some of the ribbons are faded and medals may exhibit varying degrees of wear & damage. The photo and newspaper clippings are in poor condition with losses and tears. The photo has a Gilette razor logo glued to the left side for some reason. The case for the flight computer has some staining and glue residue. Luckily, the WWII sterling pin backed wing and Korean War era sterling Command Pilot wing are complete and undamaged with just slight signs of glue residue on backs. The second Sterling marked command pilot wing has had the clutch posts broken off as seen. Most of the WWII rank insignia are also complete and exhibit tarnishing & wear and a few have broken pins or catches. Most of the ribbon bars are a mess with glue and paper residue and broken pins.
