WW2 US Army Air Force CNAC Silver Pilot Wing, China National Aviation Corporation. Vintage original rare WW2 US Army Air Corps CNAC Pilot Wing, China National Aviation Corporation Pilot Wing, pin back. The wings are marked on the back Silver. The pin as approx. 3″ by 3/4″ in size. It is in Very Good Condition it just has some light scratches and tarnish from age. The China National Aviation Corporation was formed in 1929 by the Curtis-Wright Corporation under the leadership of Clement Keys and the Chinese government. It pioneered the routs over the Hump, and helped with transport for AVG Flying Tigers US Army, WW 2 and US Army Air Force. During World War 2, CNAC flew supplies from India, into southwestern China through the Hump Rout from April 1942, until the end of the war. CNAC eventually operated routes within China and to San Franisco. The downfall of CNAC’s operations came on November 9, 1949, when the managing director and general manager CATC (Central Aviation Transport Corporation), declared their wish to be Communist. On that day, 12 aircraft from CNAC and CATC were flown, without acknowledgement, from Hong Kong to Communist controlled China. Remaining aircraft in Hong Kong had transferred to the Civil Air Transport Inc. CNAC ceased operations in mainland China, following the Communist revolution 0f 1947, when the Civil Aviation Administration of China took over to become the sole airline of China. However, CNAC remains a subsidiary of CAAC and incorporated in Hong Kong. This rare historical piece would be an excellent addition to a collection..
