The First Inter-American Air-Ground Shooting Contest held in Lajas Field (Mendoza, 1962), competing with the USAF F-86F Saber and the Peruvian Air Force. The USAF Team was from the. 4510th Combat Crew Training Wing (Tactical Fighter). The issue was that few pilots were current on the F-86 as the wing was flying the F-100. The Team was thrown together at the last minute, aircraft came from the Air National Guard. Needless to say the Team did not win.
