Offered is a great group belonging to Staff Sergeant Milford Rahn, who served during WWII as a ball turret gunner on B-17 Flying Fortress heavy bombers. He was a member of the famous 8th Air Force that operated from England on strategic bombing missions over occupied Europe. Specifically, his outfit was the 305th Bombardment Group (Heavy). He and his crew were shot down on their 3rd mission near Hamburg, Germany, and he was subsequently made a prisoner of war by the Germans. The grouping includes everything you see in the above images. This includes Rahns uniform tunic (complete with aerial gunners wings, ribbons earned, and rank and 8th AF patches), garrison cap, POW medal (with his name and serial number scratched into the back), two photos of him, some loose patches, and a cap badge. Also included is a binder with print outs of relevant info on his service, including the crews Missing Aircraft Report, Rahns WWII memorial page, and Rahns POW record summary. These confirm the above information on his service. The cap is named in ink to M. Rahn with his laundry number (as well as several other prior owner veterans), the tunic/coat has Rahns laundry number stamped in it, and the POW medal has his name and full serial number scratched into the back. Condition is good, although there are some minor moth nips. Most are pinhead sized and scattered, generally not noticed unless examined up close. There is a cluster of about five slightly larger ones that can be seen on the right collar in the second to last image. On the back is a small and faded stain, also easily overlooked, but pointed out in the last image. Considering the items age, this condition is still solid.
