1950s B15D B-15D Mod Flight Jacket. Original early 50s vintage B-15D Modified flight jacket. These jackets are actually the predecessor of the MA-1 series still in limited use. The garment is in excellent wearable condition, the only detractions being a couple of small moth nips to the cuffs and collar and some minor staining to the lower sleeves. The white cloth “modified” tag is present, but washed out. The shoulder decal is faded but visible. The original CONMAR zippers function perfectly, and retain their original pull tabs. The radio wiring tabs in the armpits are present, as is the oxygen mask tab on the chest. These jackets were modified in the mid 1950s by removal of the original mouton collar, and replacement with the wool elastic collar. A new tag was then applied reflecting the modification. It was found that the original style mouton collar interfered with the new style rigid fiberglass helmets introduced in the early jet age, hence the change. A rare transitional flight jacket. (G) Good condition, but heavy wear. Marks and discoloration throughout from authentic Airforce wear during the Korean War in the 1950’s. Wool has bites and has possibly been replaced during wartime. Jacket is very wearable if one prefers the worn-in look. Pit to Pit: 21.5. Shoulder to shoulder: 18. Shoulder to Cuff: 22.
