His proudest achievement was working on the Apollo 11 Lunar Module with Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin to the moon. The 480th Fighter Bomber Squadron patch was established in 1957 at England AFB, Louisiana, and were F-100 Sky Sabers. The squadron was re-activated 3 later by the USAF in Europe and they were F-84F Thunder Streaks, later the 480th Tactical Fighter Squadron as the War Hawks in Vietnam.
