UNITED STATES AIR FORCE. UPPER LEFT CORNER YOU CAN SEE AMARILLO, WHICH OF COURSE WAS AN AIR FORCE BASE IN TEXAS. OPENED I BELIEVE IN 1942. WHAT MAKES THIS RARE IS THERE IS A TOTAL OF 14 INDIVIDUAL SIGNATURES ON BACK, AND 16 PILOTS ON FRONT. I WOULD DOUBT ANOTHER ONE EXISTS. THERE IS A PARAGRAPH TO “SPANO” ABOUT TRIP TO TURKEY, FROM MELVIN (THE SLEEPER) THIEL. GOOD SHAPE FOR AGE. WOULD LOOK GREAT FRAMED. YOU CAN GOOGLE THE HISTORY SURROUNDING AMARILLO. Air Force commemorative plaque, created by Lucius W. Boseman circa 1960, showcases a finely relief-carved depiction of a fighter jet over the Opinicus crest with the inscription Master of the Sky. It also features the insignia of the 50th Space Wing and was made during Boseman’s service at Hahn Air Force Base in Germany. A unique blend of military history and artistic expression, this plaque is a striking piece of mid-century Air Force heritage. Condition: Very good overall condition; kindly see photos for details.
