USAF F-4 Phantom Pilot’s PCU-15/16 Parachute Harness & Lumbar Pad Lowering Strap
This is an original USAF F-4 Phantom Pilot’s PCU-15/16 Parachute Harness with Lumbar Pad containing the personnel Lowering Strap. This harness is in excellent condition with all the buckles and straps intact. It has the lumbar pad attached that has the PCU-10/P personnel lowering strap assembly. On the side is a strobe light in its container. On the front is the CRU-60/P oxygen mask regulator mount. The lumbar pad is dated 1985. Limited Edition 1000 Pieces Worldwide. McDonnell Douglas F-4C Phantom II. Robin Olds (July 14, 1922 – June 14, 2007) was an American fighter pilot and general officer in the U. He was a “triple ace”, with a combined total of 16 victories in World War II and the Vietnam War. He retired in 1973 as a brigadier general. His 259 total combat missions included 107 in World War II and 152 in Southeast Asia, 105 of those over North Vietnam. Scat XXVII was retired from operational service and placed on display at the National Museum of the United States Air Force, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. Designed as a fleet defense fighter for the US Navy, the F-4 Phantom was first flown on May 27, 1958. This twin-engine, long-range all-weather fighter/bomber proved highly adaptable and served in the Marine Corps and the US Air Force as well as in the Navy. During the Vietnam War, it was the principal air superiority fighter for the Navy and the Air Force and was also used for reconnaissance and ground attack. The Phantom continued to serve well into the 1970s and 1980s and even flew missions during the first Gulf War. Finally phased out by the F-14, F-16 and F/A-18, the Phantom was retired in 1996.
