Vtg US Air Force Wall Plaque – 54th WEA RECON SQUADRON – USAF – Weather Recon. This plaque is in good condition. 54th Weather Reconnaissance Squadron. The 54th Weather Reconnaissance Squadron is an inactive United States Air Force unit. Its last assignment was to the 41st Rescue and Weather Reconnaissance Wing at Andersen Air Force Base, Guam, where it was inactivated on 30 September 1987. The squadron was first organized as the 654th Bombardment Squadron in August 1944. Flying de Havilland Mosquitos, the squadron provided weather and photographic reconnaissance and radar countermeasure support for VIII Bomber Command until V-E Day. Redesignated the 54th Reconnaissance Squadron it deployed to the Pacific, but arrived after hostilities had ended. It served until inactivating in 1947. Redesignated the 54th Strategic Reconnaissance Squadron, the squadron resumed weather reconnaissance flights from Anderson Air Force Base, Guam, including some supporting forces in the Korean War. VERY RARE AND IN EXCELLENT CONDITION! VINTAGE ORIGINAL 1984 US AIR FORCE S&S MFG COMPANY M65 COLD WEATHER FIELD JACKET/COAT WITH REMOVABLE LINER, GENUINE PATCHES, & ZIP-OUT HOOD. (It has an oversized fit for layering, which was standard issue). 171st AIR REFUELING WING. (2) AIR FORCE RANK SHOULDER PATCHES. This jacket is in extremely nice condition! The removable button-in liner is near perfect. The jacket shows VERY MINIMAL wear. There are no stains, holes, odors, etc. This has been securely stored for the majority of its life! (See photos for details and condition – many more photos are available). 100% AUTHENTIC ORIGINAL, GUARANTEED! Approximate measurements are as follows. Underarm to underarm/pit to pit (laying flat): 23″ (46″ chest). Length (laying flat): 31 Rear neckline to bottom edge. Sleeve length from pit seam to end of cuff: 19.
