Original and scarce US Air Force / USAF blue B-15C Mod. Korean War era pilot jacket. The heavy duty Talon zipper is in good working condition. The leather pull tab is missing. A few white stains on the front and back, most are visible on the detailed pictures. 1 repair on the front right side of the chest. Some wear and tears on the wool cuffs and waist band. INTERESTING WWII AIR FORCE POW MEDAL (NAMED) & AIR MEDAL RESEARCHED, SCARCE

Here is a medal pair that I had squirreled away long ago and it just surfaced as I was looking for something else. WWII Prisoner of War Medal officially named to PHILIP S. GUCKES and a nice WWII issue wrap brooch Air Medal (unnamed as issued). I got this long before I had access to Ancestry, so had never researched it. Well, I just spent half an hour on that and the research attempt was quite fruitful. I found a lot with Philip S. Guckes and even more by dropping the middle initial and using Google. Guckes was born 6 January 1920 in Pennsylvania and died 8 June 2006 in Florida. Before entering the service in 1943, he attended Lehigh University, where he was the President of Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity. His service number was 0-2057910. He was captured as a First Lieutenant on 28 December 1944 while flying in a heavy bomber over Italy. He was held as a German POW for 166 days at Stalag Luft 1. He was assigned to North 3, Barracks 1, Block 301, Room 3 you can find the details of his room mates, etc. I did not find his specific bomb squadron, but someone probably do that, along with the POW report and aircraft loss paperwork. The wings have the Air Force star and USAF the wings each hold a massive BOMB 4 ½ long! The plane has original retractable nose, straight wings and tail, friction motor with wheels, cockpit cover and head of pilot. The t tail fin is super cool, with holes in rear for exhaust and flames to escape! When activated this tin toy WORKS with super loud mechanical sound and strong motor to propel this BEAST down the runway and straight for another meeting with destiny! The box for this tin toy is original and features the F-104 in supersonic flight nice colors and patina. There is a small tear on side flap overall this box is FANTASTIC! Very good condition original WWII US Army Air Force Type A-1 folding machete that is complete with the scarce original leather carrying case. Blade has nice original blue metal finish showing a little normal wear and spotting and a few minor rust stains. Folding mechanism functions fine and tight. Complete with original folding guard. Black plastic grips have no cracks or chips. Leather case is soft and supple with some normal wear and staining. Stitching is nice and tight. A scarce WWII USAAF folding machete with case that will make a fine addition to your collection.
