This is an original WWII issue Army Air Forces folding machete. Type packed into survival kits. This is maker marked by Camillus and is in used very good condition. Handle and blade are tight with no loose fittings. Blade is still very sharp and shows wear and tear.. Includes the blade guard. This is a nice example of a survival machete. WWII Era Original US Army Air Force Bailout Folding Machete Survival Knife w/Guard – Marked: Imperial Prov. Up for sale is a WWII Era Original US Army Air Force Bailout Folding Machete Survival Knife w/Guard. No rust or pitting. No nicks or chips in the blade. Minor evidence of sharpening. The blade is marked: Imperial Prov. The blade is 10″ long, with an overall lenght of 17″. It has an intergral folding blade guard. The guard folds into the handle when open or over the blade when closed, see photos. The release button is no longer present, the locking mechanism still functions, you just need to use a small tool to unlock it. The machete is used, please see photos for condition. This machete was adopted in October 1942 for the B-4 Emergency Bail Out Kit, usually attached to the parachute harness. Cole Book, “The Best of US Military Knifes, Bayonets and Machetes” page #195. World War 11 U. S. Army Air Force Type A-1 folding machete survival knife

World War II U. Army Air Force Type A-1 folding machete survival knife. Manufactured by Imperial Knife Co. As stamped on left ricasso. Adopted by the US Military in 1942 for the B-4 emergency bail out kit usually attached to the parachute harness. Checkered black plastic grip panels. There is a guard system built into machete. When closed, the metal guard protects the blade. When open, the guard flips closed to lock the blade in place. There is a release button for the guard that must be pushed to the release the guard and close the blade. MACHETE WITH SHEATH / TYPE A-1 / NO. This has been in my family since the 1940’s. MEASUREMENTS: Blade length is 9-5/8. Overall length when open is 17. Overall length when closed is 11-5/8. Small spot of rust on cutting edge of blade, black discoloration on tie on bottom of sheath. WWII Era Original US Army Air Force Fixed Blade Machete Survival Knife w/Blade Guard – Marked: CASE XX – RARE – Excellent Condition. This machete has a fixed blade with a wooden handle. It also includes the original blade guard. The blade guards are commonly missing from most examples you encounter. The blade is in Excellent Condition. A couple spots of minor surface rust on the blade, near the tip and markings. The blade shows no evidence of sharpening. The blade is marked: CASE XX. See photo’s for condition.
