For your consideration is this exceedingly rare WWII graduation/yearbook with 55 signatures from bomber/fighter pilots and staff trained in Chickasha, Oklahoma in September of 1942. The book belonged to Captain Richard R. As I’m sure you know, unsigned copies of these graduation books are really hard to find, and almost impossible to find with this many signatures. I’ve not been able to find one even close.. The 55 signatures are listed in no particular order other than how they appear the book. Some went on to become career military men. Many were sadly killed in action. There are several listed below as “No detailed info found”. That just means I wasn’t able to find anything in a simple google search, but certainly more info on each of these WWII aviators could be found through state and national archives, third party genealogy sites, etc. The names below are just the ones that are signed/personalized and represent a large portion of the nearly 200 graduates and instructors. Cipriani – Chicago – One record of incident (crash) on the aviation archaeology page. Vernon, TX – No detailed info Found. Bailey – Stillwater, OK – KIA – Shot down by the Swiss (yes, you read that correctly) on 4-24-44. A fascinating story (with rumor of possible Hollywood movie in the makes) can be found by searching his name. Malcomb – Ashland, OH – Retired LtCol. 1942 Accident/Incident Report found. Marek – South River, NJ – Record found with very little info. Williams – Detroit, MI – No detailed info found. Noack – Port Arthur, TX – B-17 was shot down. Was a German-held POW until liberation in 1945. Ozimek – Chicago – No detailed info found. Schreiber – Nauvoo, IL – No detailed info found. Oklahoma City, OK – B-24 Pilot KIA 9/16/43 Over Japan – 308th Bomb Group. Rundle – Lansing, IL – Flew missions in the South pacific and Japan; later flew Senator Goldwater. Richards – Flint, MI – European theater POW. Achieved the rank of major (at least) and flew combat missions for 11 months. Later set distance records in Air Force B-47’s. Overall Condition is a solid 8 out of 10. The only flaw is one of the yearbook pages has come loose. There’s no reason why it couldn’t be reattached using the original binding staples. With regard to price… I wasn’t sure what to ask for this piece considering I couldn’t find anything else for sale like it. Partially due to it being a paperback yearbook that’s 75 years old, and the fact that after an exhaustive web search I was unable to find any aviator yearbook with anywhere close to the amount of signatures found here.
