The rest of the tag is frayed. Fabric material is unknown but is most likely cotton or a cotton blend (it says combed yarn). Originally marked a size Medium. (We estimate a XS fit). USAF Air Force 480th TFS Tactical Fighter Squadron Patch USAF SPANGDAHLEM AB, GERMANY. This patch is signed by aerospace legend, Frank A. Heppler Condition is Pre-owned but near MINT! Heppler was born Sep 25, 1936 and died July 26 2020. Married 62 years and a US Army Veteran, who was the Quality Control Officer for Grumman Aircraft for over 35 years. His proudest achievement was working on the Apollo 11 Lunar Module with Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin to the moon. The 480th Fighter Bomber Squadron patch was established in 1957 at England AFB, Louisiana, and were F-100 Sky Sabers. The squadron was re-activated 3 later by the USAF in Europe and they were F-84F Thunder Streaks, later the 480th Tactical Fighter Squadron as the War Hawks in Vietnam. The history go on and on, with many other different planes built by Grumman and Squadrons names. This is only a tip of the sword as far as the history and what you might find in the history books. Further research can be found under 480th Tactical Fighter Squadron. The 480th Fighter Squadron (480th FS), nicknamed the Warhawks, is an active United States Air Force unit operating the General Dynamics F-16CJ Fighting Falcon. The 480 FS assigned to the 52nd Fighter Wing, Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany is the only United States Air Forces in Europe – Air Forces Africa flying unit performing the Suppression of Enemy Air Defenses (SEAD) mission. WWII MILITARY JACKET CBI VEVO SERVICE PILOT UNIFORM HANDTAILORED TUNIC MINT CONDITION. I found this awesome coat in Bangkok! My eyes popped out when I saw the silver BEVO, wings, USAAF patch and CBI patch. The coat was made by a tailor from Eagle Clothes, in NYC for a C, N? I thought at first it was a prop for a movie because it was such in awesome condition. This coat is MINT!! It’s on the small to medium size. BEVO Insignia patches appear to be theater made with some minor fraying. No belt or rank. How it ended up in Thailand one can only guess probably, R&R. These are objects acquired from more than 20 years of collecting both in the field and in New York. It has culminated in the creation of Ethnix Tribal Arts gallery in New York City.
