One Original USAF 305th Air Rescue Squadron SAR Search & Rescue Vintage Jolly Green Jacket. Poly green shell is excellent. There are several small imperfections in the fabric, though muted and noticeable. Stain on left cuff and at sleeve…. Appears as oil or mechanical fluid. A few other spots but are not as bad as that one. This may have been “BOBS” racing jacket as a NOVI PATCH HAS BEEN applied above the embroidered name. The design on the reverse is a transfer type and not embroidered. Snaps are all present and working. Birdie tag in neck. Marked M for MEDIUM. This jacket measures as a near 46. 305th squadron patch sewn to chest. The bright whites are now dull from wear and time…. I wear a 46 suit jacket.. This jacket will almost button up when I tried it on but not quite large enough. Interior white quilted poly is faded and stains as shown. This jacket will display nicely or have cleaned for wear. I estimate the vintage period from post war Vietnam late 1970s to early 1980s. I will provide the item as pictured. Multiple images of one item on offer. I’m gone find my baby. This is an outstanding estate sale grouping that I picked up quite a few years ago to a airman who was with the 305th Bomb Group, 8th Army Air Force during WWII and was wounded in action. The vet Ike jacket is in beautiful crisp condition with no moth damage or major stains, and still has the original WWII insignia which includes a (hard to find) British made silk 8th AAF patch, embroidered on black wool Staff Sargent chevrons, five overseas stripes, federal hash mark, Ruptured Duck patch, Presidential Unit Citation (pin-back) US and AAF collar discs (screw-back) Air Crew Member Wing (sterling silver marked) Wolf Brown 3 place plastic ribbon bar with Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal (w/ 3 oak leaf clusters) and EAME w/ 2 battle stars (one missing) plastic coated P-Heart ribbon, and American Defense ribbon, and a Qualification Badge with Rifle tab (both marked sterling on back). The jacket also still has the Q. Tag in the right inner pocket dated Dec. 16 1944 Size 36S. There are two hats included with this mans grouping. The first is his US Army issued wool enlisted uniform visor cap with only a couple of very tiny moth nips, and the leather sweatband is missing, but still very nice for display and is a size 7. The second hat is a 305th Bomb Group reunion baseball cap from the late 70s or early 80s and has a 8th AAF pin, and a “CAN DO” 305th BG pin, and a patch with the G in a black triangle which with their Bomber Tail logo. There is also a group of nine photos of the vet in uniform, some by himself and with his buddies and wife that I also picked up at the sale. The jacket and visor cap are both named with the vets last name “Gibbs”. I have not researched this grouping, but it all came from the same local estate. Track Page Views With. WWII B-17 Gunner 8th Air Force POW Tunic Grouping 305th Bomb Group

Offered is a great group belonging to Staff Sergeant Milford Rahn, who served during WWII as a ball turret gunner on B-17 Flying Fortress heavy bombers. He was a member of the famous 8th Air Force that operated from England on strategic bombing missions over occupied Europe. Specifically, his outfit was the 305th Bombardment Group (Heavy). He and his crew were shot down on their 3rd mission near Hamburg, Germany, and he was subsequently made a prisoner of war by the Germans. The grouping includes everything you see in the above images. This includes Rahns uniform tunic (complete with aerial gunners wings, ribbons earned, and rank and 8th AF patches), garrison cap, POW medal (with his name and serial number scratched into the back), two photos of him, some loose patches, and a cap badge. Also included is a binder with print outs of relevant info on his service, including the crews Missing Aircraft Report, Rahns WWII memorial page, and Rahns POW record summary. These confirm the above information on his service. The cap is named in ink to M. Rahn with his laundry number (as well as several other prior owner veterans), the tunic/coat has Rahns laundry number stamped in it, and the POW medal has his name and full serial number scratched into the back. Condition is good, although there are some minor moth nips. Most are pinhead sized and scattered, generally not noticed unless examined up close. There is a cluster of about five slightly larger ones that can be seen on the right collar in the second to last image. On the back is a small and faded stain, also easily overlooked, but pointed out in the last image. Considering the items age, this condition is still solid. Authentic Air Force USAF B-58 MACH 2 305th Bomb Wing (M) Bunker Hill AFB

Bunker Hill (Grissom) Air Force Base operations. In May 1959, the 305th Bomb Wing (with B-47s) was reassigned to Bunker Hill Air Force Base. Indiana and assumed responsibility for operating the base.
