Made by Moss Bros. Sadly the details are no longer legible and too faint to read. The uniform is post war period. The Observer brevet looks WWII Period. Highly decorated Officer with Distinguished Flying Cross, 1939-45 Star, Africa Star with Rosette, Pacific Star with Rosette, Defence, British War Medal, General Service Medal and Croix de Guerre with palm. I have taken the following measurements as a guide for fit. Please account for under garments. Arm pit to arm pit laid flat across the chest 21″ Bottom hem line laid flat 16 1/2″ Upper sleeve length taken from the seam of the shoulder to the cuff 25″ Sleeve length from the arm pit to the cuff 17 1/2″ Drop at the back from the seam at the base of the collar to the bottom hem 20 1/2 Shoulder to shoulder across the back measures approx. 17 1/2 Weight 1.09 kg. A original second war ROYAL AIR FORCE flight lieutenant tunic, cap, battledress and trousers uniform grouping. A recent find totally untouched. Air crew battle dress and trousers clearly marked and dated 1943. # tunic with fine silk pilots wing , and F/LT rank insignia , simpson london maker label. Chest pockets with poppers to close. Old dry cleaning label , hand stitched in red cotton worn remaining letters ” R H “. This tunic has areas of moth nip damage. # cap with leather chin strap , black cloth covered buttons each side with two vents , green under peak. Maker VERO & CO LONDON inside leather has front khaki velvet sweat band section. Cap badge on band with metal gilt eagle within bullion wreath and kings crown. # battle dress with heavily worn [due to parachute harness] padded pilots wing. F/LT rank insignia , hand stitched in red cotton worn remaining letters ” R B “. Label heading air crew blouse size 8 commercial mnfg co 1943 /I\. Has small piece of cloth held on with alloy reads K3. Has dry cleaners label stapled in with A1 on. Has no pocket buttons and 2nd button down missing , non brass buckle. # trousers, full length have 8 painted on waist band aircrew headed label size 8 by HART & LEVY LTD 1943 /I\. Has dry cleaners label stapled in with A1 on has no button on back pocket. There is moth damage to the tunic the battledress and trousers and cap fine. All are salty and have been well used in war. The buttons which are lost [flat tin type] must have happened in service as these items have remained totally untouched in a loft since the wars end , i have in the past seen buttons removed on purpose from uniforms so the owner can get in and out of pockets easier i would not touch or replace them. Displays well if you want a nice well used original untouched RAF PILOTS war service uniform grouping this is it. I was told the following / all what was known remembered of former pilot he was ROBERT HENRY BROOKES CLARKE. In the war he had trained in RHODESIA , first started flying sunderlands out of scotland , he was latter shot down once , he went on to fly, flying sword fish torpedo planes in the Mediterranean , and always stated the best thing he did in the war was brought pows and servicemen safety home. The uniform is named to 1429349 Cpl. The label in the jackets reads: War Service Dress Blouse. Height 5’11” – 6 0″ Breast 37 – 38″ Waist 34″ Made by F. Crows foot / military arrow marked. War Department stamped with date letter M which corresponds to the date 1944. In very good condition, little evidence of wear besides being a little grubby on the inside collar. War Service Dress Trousers. 13 Height 5’11” to 6′ 0″ Waist 34″ Seat 39″ to 40″ Leg 32 1/2″ Made by M & N. Crows foot / military arrow marked which runs off the bottom of the label. Internal braces buttons, button fly. Front field dressing pocket which still has its original factory tacking in place. Again these are very good condition, little evidence of wear.
