The cap is marked “FLIGHT ACE FIVE STAR” and was made by Flight Ace, San Antonio, TX. The cap is size 7. The national insignia is marked N. The cap has a foam rubber headband or ring that helps give it a “crusher” style reminiscent of caps worn by WWII aircrews. The foam rubber headband is marked with the cap size and patent number. The cap is a very nice example of an early U. Air Force officers service dress blue wool visor cap! The brown leather sweatband on the interior of the cap appears to be in excellent vintage condition with a few spots, wrinkles, creases, minor loss of finish, and perhaps light soiling and/or discoloration from wear. The ribbon on the interior back of the cap is in very good to excellent condition with fraying on the ends of the ribbon. The foam rubber headband or ring appears to be in very good to excellent vintage condition with some wear on the printed size and patent information, and dried adhesive and/or stains where the ends of the foam headband connect. The silver-toned metal national insignia and chin strap buttons appear to be in good vintage condition with scratches, scrapes, abrasions, pits, indentations, and some loss of finish. Adjustable chinstrap appears to be in excellent condition. The black leather (or synthetic leather) visor appears to be in good to very good used condition with signs of wear and age, such as scratches, scrapes, abrasions, indentations, haziness, and some wrinkling of the material. There is some wear and minor loss of finish along the edge of the visor. The underside of the visor appears to be in excellent vintage condition with a small ink spot or stain. This rectangular trunk is made of high-quality green military finish leather and has a sturdy hinge door mechanism. It was manufactured in Gibraltar in the early 20th century and weighs approximately 10lbs. The handle material is also made of leather and has a personalized touch. The trunk is a genuine antique item from the World War II era, and it is licensed for original reproduction. It has a few signs of wear and tear due to its age, but it is still in excellent condition overall. The interior is immaculate, and it is perfect for storage or display purposes. This trunk is a must-have for any military memorabilia collector or someone who appreciates rare and unique pieces. Item was found in Quartzsite Arizona at a estate sale by his family..
