An early WW2 US Army Air Force issue 1942 dated Irvin Air Chutes seat pack parachute S-1 with the early bayonet fasteners that proved unreliable and were replaced by snap hooks. In very used condition it shows use and was assigneed to Maj H. P Neal of the th base unit in Memphis Tennessee. The rip handle is chrome, the back pad is the early pear shaped style and this has the rare rubber sponge seat cushion with inflation valave. It there but pretty rough as seen in the pictures. S Air Force Type Flight Helmet appears to be complete With Oxygen Mask And Bayonet… This comes with original bag as in picture the Bayonet has , US M8A1 B M CO stamped on the Scabbard. I’v been asked a few times about the Bayonet and after some research I’v found this is the earliest made in 1944 – 1945 by Utica Cutlery CO stamped on the the Bayonet on the cross guard there is a small Canon Ball with Flames along with US M4 Utica made for the M1 Carbine Rifle during WW11. There are two variations of the Scabbard both with an olive drab fiberglass body and steal throat. The early version M8 Scabbard only had a Belt Loop, (the one I have) and lacked the double hook that earlier Bayonet Scabbards had for attaching to load carrying equipment such-as the M1910 Haversack. The improved M8A1 Scabbard manufactured later in WW11 has the M1910 Bent Wire Hook. The Bayonet is in great shape for the age of 75. The item “U.
