Car shown in the first photo is not for sale. Simply an illustration of what these tanks can be used for. This sale is for 2 bomber drop tank cones. Cones are 47 dia. At the big end, 13″ at the small end and 87″ long each for a combined length of 14-1/2ft. To join the 2 ends people normally either weld, or use a 1 wide aluminum strip to create a band to join the 2 ends with rivets or screws. These cleanup really nicely with a wash bucket and some Scotch-Brite. Note: We now have available the ballistic tail cone ends available separately as shown in last photo listing number 271792756062. I have been told these were used for auxiliary fuel storage for long range bombing missions for the B-47 and other long range bombers, and had the capability to be dropped in flight in case of emergency. In fact they were equipped with a parachute (no longer avaliable) for safe landing. I can tell you that they are constructed of a very durable aircraft aluminum 6061 alloy and are approx. As thick as a dime. These are an excellent conversation piece, and have been modified for all different types of interesting projects like Salt Flat Cars, Dummy Bombs, barbecue grills, signs, furniture, tree houses, Pontoons, etc. Because they are aluminum they can be polished to an amazing shine.
