FIRST Female Air Force General Jeannie M. Holm Uniform RARE Winter Mess Dress
For your consideration is this museum-quality Estate lot from the FIRST Female General in the Air Force, and the FIRST two-star Female General in our Nations History. Much can be found about the long, illustrious life and career of Major General Jeannie M. Holm online, so I will only write in this description what is included in this once in a lifetime offering and allow you to research the historical importance of this collection. This lot includes Major General Holm’s Complete Winter Mess Dress Uniform and Summer Jacket. I Believe the Summer (white) jacket was somewhat interchangeable with the winter items same silver cummerbund, white shirt, and probably the dress. The inside of the black jacket is marked to General Holm as a LtCol. These early Female Mess Dress Uniforms are as rare as hens teeth, not to mention its owner was the first Female General in the Air Force. Everything shown is in immaculate condition. The white Creighton undershirt still has the tag on it. The shoulder-boards, which were specifically designed in a smaller, women’s only size, were certainly the first ones ever made for a general. These black shoulder-boards are also interchangeable with the summer white uniform. The Uniform: This Dress Uniform is in Excellent Condition. It was dry-cleaned after its last use and stored in a smoke free home. There are no moth holes, marks, stains, etc. In short, it’s pristine. This is guaranteed to be General Holm’s uniform. We have the contents of her estate, and have for sale several of her other uniforms and hundreds of pages of documentation, photos, records, etc. Which can be found for sale in a separate listing. Please see our two other listings for her other uniforms, and a HUGE lot if her military relics. Sorry, no International sales. The item “FIRST Female Air Force General Jeannie M. Holm Uniform RARE Winter Mess Dress” is in sale since Thursday, August 2, 2018. HUGE Estate Lot / FIRST Female Air Force General Jeannie M. Holm Uniforms Medals
ALL of Major General Holm’s uniforms, medals, awards, and correspondence regarding her ground-breaking promotions is included in this sale. I’m hoping this lot makes its way into a museum or public space, but I also understand there may be an opportunity for someone to sell pieces individually to collectors. At this time, we would like to sell it all together. The Uniforms: All uniforms are in Immaculate condition. Each was dry-cleaned after its last use and stored in a smoke free home. There are no moth holes, marks, stains, etc. They are all pristine. Most pieces are marked, stamped, or embroidered with her name. One Complete Set of Service Mess Dress (pictured in the first photo). It includes the original stars/shoulder boards and miniature medals. Two sets of Dress Blues – Both include ribbons, and one includes Major General stars. Blue tops and bottoms (skirts) are included. I’m not sure if there should be white or light blue undershirts as a part of this uniform, or if it’s the same as the one used for the mess dress uniform. Also a point to note, this is the uniform she wore in all the iconic photos of her on the internet. One very rare, 1960’s Female dress white Formal Dinner blouse and jacket. I couldn’t find a ton of info online about these, but believe it was worn with the same long skirt as the Service Mess Dress, and that the shoulder boards are interchangeable with the uniform listed below. One very rare, 1950’s/1960’s Female Formal Dinner Dress Uniform. This comes with a full length skirt, and two-star shoulder boards. Medals and Awards: There are too many to list. Major General Holm’s Distinguished Service Medals and original signed certificate are present. There are several hundred of various letters of appreciation/congratulations from prominent civilians (most unresearched) all the way up to the Secretary of the Air Force. This flag could be ironed by its new owner, and would display as new.
