(J 47) For sale here is a very nice US WW2 Named 8th Air Force British Made Ike Jacket with Documents and all Insignia. The jacket belonged to James Ponder who was the pilot of B-24 Liberator 44-40141 which was named the Ponderous Pachyderm. The Pachyderm was a member of the 491st Bomb Group of the 853rd Bomb Squadron. The jacket is made of chocolate brown British wool material and features two faux button snap breast pockets, four rear darts, epaulettes with buttons, four darted sleeves, four button front closure, and triple snap waist belt with brass buckle. The jacket is complete with pinback roller lock sterling Meyer 1st Lieutenant rank insignia, snowflake acid test marked clutchback US insignia with flat clutches, and clucthback sterling gold filled marked AAC insignia with flat clutches, a pinback distinguished unit citation ribbon with oak leaf, a pinback two place ribbon bar, Air Medal with three oak leaf clusters, and ETO ribbon with two large bronze star. The pilot wings are pinback with a roller lock and are marked sterling. The left shoulder has a British made wool felt AAC patch. The right shoulder features a British made wool felt 8th Air Force patch. The jacket has two British made gold bullion service stripes on the lower left sleeve. The jacket shows some wear and light fading with a few small piques but is extremely nice. The jacket is lined in coarse brown satin. The inside of the jacket shows wear. There are two internal slash pockets. There is a stapled in name tag inside of the right shoulder to Ponder J. And a sewn in Raman makers label. This is an amazing jacket with nice paperwork that will make an excellent addition to any collection. Measurements are below for your convenience. Armpit to armpit: 21. Top to bottom: 24. ORIGINAL WW2 BRITISH RAF. RAF Mk VII FLYING GOGGLES The frames are in very good condition, showing some minor wear to the paint. 22C/826 2022 stamped on them. Good clear lenses that are in very excellent condition with no cracks, just some slight delamination to the glass. S and leather nose piece are in very good condition. The head strap is in excellent condition and still elasticity. The reflections / marks on the lenses that you see in a few of the photos is the flash on the camera and some fingerprint smudges. I can only upload 12 photographs on here. But I do have a few more photographs available of the lenses from the front and rear without the flash.
