Antiques, Fine Art & Collectibles. Vintage US Army Cold War Brass Plaque Plate 303rd ARR Air Rescue Squadron Dumbo. DESCRIPTION Vintage cast brass military wall plaque. Dating to the 1950s /60s era this solid brass plaque depicts Dumbo the Elephant in the center above the motto “Serving to save”. This emblem was adopted by servicemen who named their Albatrosses after the flying elephant in 1957 and was applied to their SA- 16As. Marked: 303rd ARRSq Serviens ut Servet A great military brass commemorative piece to display on your man cave wall or addition to any US military collection. This would make a great unique gift for a birthday or housewarming. MEASUREMENTS Vintage plaque measures 11″ wide by 1″ tall and weighs 1lb 8oz. CONDITION Plaque is in good working condition with little signs of use commensurate with age (please see all pictures as they form part of the condition description). ORIGINAL WWII 303rd Bomb Group Hell’s Angels Jacket Patch + 8th Air Force PATCH

This lot includes an ORIGINAL 303rd Bombardment Group, Hell’s Angels jacket patch. The item measures 5 3/8 from top to bottom. As you can see above, it’s heavily stained. The smaller 8th AF patch measures 2 1/2 in diameter and appears to have been made in England. These patches came to me with the pictures you see in the last 3 images above. They are not period prints but appear to have been printed off scans of the originals. The B-17’s serial number is visible: 337729. With that it should be possible to get a crew list. The original owner’s name is partially visible on the back of the Hell’s Angels patch. There’s enough of his name visible to match against a crew list. A great research opportunity!
