WW2 US Army Air Corps Officers Uniform Named B-17 Pilot 8th Air Force Group LOT

World War 2 US Army Air Corps Pilot’s Uniform. Named Pilot: Lieutenant William L. He flew as General Robert Chrisjohn’s copilot. Reported to group on 17 Jul 1944. Completed 35 missions from 08 September 1944 to 03 February 1945. Source: American Air Museum in Britain. 1 4 pocket tunic with bullion. 1 3 Pilot’s wings. Everything is original to the uniform and pilot except the 3 pilots wings. The tunic is missing the ribbons. The “pinks” trousers are unhemmed. The shirts have small stains and at least one moth hole. The only tag I could find was on one of the shirts which said 15-34. But since all of this was probably tailored anyway, I took some measurements. For the trousers which are still hemmed, The waist is 30 and the inseam is 30 1/2. I measured one of the shirts. I got a chest measurement of 39 (pit to pit x 2). Collar to bottom of shirt 29. These measurements are approximate. WWII B-17 Gunner 8th Air Force POW Tunic Grouping 305th Bomb Group

Offered is a great group belonging to Staff Sergeant Milford Rahn, who served during WWII as a ball turret gunner on B-17 Flying Fortress heavy bombers. He was a member of the famous 8th Air Force that operated from England on strategic bombing missions over occupied Europe. Specifically, his outfit was the 305th Bombardment Group (Heavy). He and his crew were shot down on their 3rd mission near Hamburg, Germany, and he was subsequently made a prisoner of war by the Germans. The grouping includes everything you see in the above images. This includes Rahns uniform tunic (complete with aerial gunners wings, ribbons earned, and rank and 8th AF patches), garrison cap, POW medal (with his name and serial number scratched into the back), two photos of him, some loose patches, and a cap badge. Also included is a binder with print outs of relevant info on his service, including the crews Missing Aircraft Report, Rahns WWII memorial page, and Rahns POW record summary. These confirm the above information on his service. The cap is named in ink to M. Rahn with his laundry number (as well as several other prior owner veterans), the tunic/coat has Rahns laundry number stamped in it, and the POW medal has his name and full serial number scratched into the back. Condition is good, although there are some minor moth nips. Most are pinhead sized and scattered, generally not noticed unless examined up close. There is a cluster of about five slightly larger ones that can be seen on the right collar in the second to last image. On the back is a small and faded stain, also easily overlooked, but pointed out in the last image. Considering the items age, this condition is still solid. ORIGINAL WWII US ARMY AIR FORCE D2 OXYGEN CYLINDER & REGULATOR. This is an original and complete WWII Army Air Force CYLINDER & REGULATOR ASSEMBLY also known as a Walk-Around-Bottle. These high altitude O2 bottles were used at each crew station on all large US WWII bombers such as the B-17 and the B-24, etc. It allowed the crew members to disconnect their o2 mask from the fixed oxygen supply and attach to this mobile supply so they could move to another location in the aircraft or to use as a back up supply in an emergency. This type of cylinder is quite scarce. This is a much larger bottle than the more common types, about 30 from the end of the regulator to the end of the canister. The yellow paint and black stenciled text on the cylinder are excellent. The regulator is really nice with everything intact and a great data plate. The pressure gage is in great shape. The canvas carrying case is in overall good condition, small repair on the back. The sling is strong. It includes the steel D-2 Cylinder, AN 6022-1 Demand Oxygen Regulator with pressure gage and the Carrying Case/Sling. The D-2 Bottle is marked BREATHING OXYGEN, NONSHATTERABLE TYPE D-2 SPEC. 94-40355, INTERNAL VOLUME 500 CUBIC INCHES, AVAILABLE OXYGEN FROM 400 TO 50 POUNDS PER SQUARE INCH, PRESSURE IS 6.9 CUBIC FEET. The kahki Case is marked CYLINDER & REGULATOR ASSEMBLY-DWG. The Regulator is marked REGULATOR ASSEMBLY-DEMAND OXYGEN, AN6022-1, MF’G. 0-506-1, , PERRLESS OF AMERICA, INC. It has an AF 1943 dated serial number. Each major component is marked with the WWII “AN” (Army/Navy) acceptance stamp. It appears to be operational, however I would not recommend this antique for actual use. See my other listings for more U. Vtg 1940’s B-17 Flying Fortress Bomber WWII Tool Kit Military Aircraft Air Force

This is an incredible and rare Boeing B-17 tool kit in original tool indexed roll. Date approximate of 1943 to coincide with the development of the B-17F, which is listed on the landing gear wrench. Some of the parts still have wire and heavily worn paper hang tags. Content and completeness is unknown but all tools that are included are shown along with the case. There is wear to the roll with small holes and missing strap but the three snaps work. The tools are in good general shape with wear. And some surface rust.
