USAF MB-4 Flight Helmet Named Vietnam War Pilot 1957 P-4A LARGE F-4 F-100 F-101
I guess he used this helmet while flying USAF F-101 Voodoos, F-102 Delta Daggers and F-100 Super Sabres. The oxygen mask receivers are an interesting variation which I have never seen before during last 20 years. Late Brigadier General John C. He started flying P-51 Mustangs in 1946. He served first with 20th FG flying P-51s and F-84 Thunderstreaks at Shaw Field, S. In 1948 he joined the 51st FG on Okinawa flying P-80s. In Korea (1953-54) he flew F-86 Sabre with 8th FBG. During his “navy” year (1954-55) he accomplished 71 carrier landings with F9F-6 Cougars and got this way U. Before his Vietnam tour (1967-68) he flew also USAF F-101 Voodoos, F-102 Delta Daggers and F-100 Super Sabres. He served as CO of 79th TFS, 20th TFW. Lt Col Bartholf became one of the first USAF pilots to fly both the reconnaissance and fighter versions of the famous F-4 Phantom II aircraft in combat. First he flew F-4D fighters with 8th TFW (Ubon) and later 432d TRW recce Phantoms (RF-4C) at Udorn Royal Thai Air Force Base. “Big John” was a brave and dedicated fighter pilot married over 61 years with his wife! This is an original USAF F-101 Voodoo fighter Combat Pilot Helmet Type P-4B, Large, 62nd Fighter Squadron, Complete. This helmet is in very good condition. It is a size large. It is all original. It has a dark green visor. It also has both earphones and a complete wiring harness. This type of helmet was used by many pilots like those flying the F-101 Voodoo. The squadron emblem is for the 62nd fighter squadron. In the late 1950’s into the 1960’s this squadron was flying the F-101 Voodoo fighter. Thank you for your interest in my auctions.
