This is a wine colored Jolly Roger 320th Squadron – Air Force- heavily embroidered shirt with 13 “bombs” at the top. The solid, embroidered in red, circle shows a fighter’s face and two crossed bombs. The embroidery work on this shirt is spectacular. Note the 14 comfort pleats inserted in yellow in the back. See all the photos and condition notes. The squadron was awarded a distinguished unit citation for its operations in Papua through January 1943. And earned another citation for strikes on enemy airfields in New Guinea in September 1943 despite heavy fire and fighter opposition. Easily one of the most iconic flight jackets ever worn, the Type A-2 flying jacket has become as legendary as the U. Army Air Force Pilots and aircrew who wore them during World War II. The A-2’s origins go back many years before the war even began when it was introduced in 1931 as the replacement to the A-1 flight jacket previously worn by aviators during the 1920s. The A-2 was produced in large quantities through 1943 and would become prized possessions for pilots and aircrew who wore them even after the war was long over. This military-issue type jacket was designed and approved by the U. Air Force and made in the United States. The jacket shell is made of premium hand-stitched Horsehide. The jacket features dual knit cuffs and waist band along with a nylon interior lining. In addition, the jacket has a U. Air Force-regulation snap down leather lined collar, shoulder epaulets, two snap down pockets, a full-length brass zippered opening with integrated wind flap, a metal hook under the collar to fasten the top of the opening, and dark colored brass grommets under each armpit for ventilation. Men’s 36 size small! From a Non smoking environment. Heavy duty metal zip front. Snap button & hook collar. 2 front flapped patch pockets. Stretch waist and cuff bands really keep the cold out. Soft 100% genuine front quarterHorsehide leather exterior, nylon liner. EXCELLENT previously worn condition: No flaws, light signs of wear. This is a very rare and very special Militaria Serving Platter. It has a Tactical Air Command insignia in the center of the tray. The tray has nice feet to stand upon. ^ The tray has been treated with respect, and has no flaws that I can see other than some tarnish.
