Douglas A-26 Invader Gun Sight A Very Nice Piece From A Formidable War Plane

This Gun Sight was removed from a Douglas A-26 Invader (Designated B-26 between 1948 and 1965). The Douglas Invader is a twin engine light bomber and ground attack aircraft that was built by Douglas Aircraft Company during WWII. The Invader had two main configurations – bomber and ground attack. After WWII The Invader saw service during several major cold war conflicts. The Douglas Invader is a fast aircraft capable of carrying a large bomb load or a large selection of guns making the aircraft a formidable ground-attack machine. The Invader in both configurations was highly respected by her crews (and the enemy) and did a remarkable job when called into service. This is an original USN or USAF Corsair II Attack Fighter Aircraft Carrier Jet Gun Sight or Optical Sight with the mount assembly. It is in good used condition. This sight lights up at the top and reflex’s the cross hairs on the glass using the mirror below. I had an 0-2A FAC aircraft and it used a very similar sight. This sight has two lenses , one clear for day and one red for night. It is 8 x 11 x 5 inches and weighs 3 pounds. I don’t believe there are any more of these aircraft flying. This would be a great on the desk or shelf of a former A-7 driver. Thank you for your interest in my auctions. Korean War USAF F-86A Sabre Jet Fighter Aircraft Pilots Mark 18 Gun Sight

This is an original late WW 2 and Korean War Mark 18 Gun sight as used in the famous F-86A Sabre Jet Fighter and the F-4U-7 Corsair. This sight is in excellent condition. The sight comes with two bulbs in the mount. I was at the National Museum of the USAF in Dayton Ohio and I saw this sight with the F-86A Sabre Jet. The F-86A was one of the first jet fighters and was very successful during the Korean War against the MIG-15. This sight was also used in the top turret of the PB4Y-2 and the P2V Neptune. It was displayed in the New England Air Museum as having been used in the F-4U-7 Corsair and the F-9 Panther. It was also used by the French flying the F4U-7 Corsair. I picked this up out of an estate here in Indianapolis. I looked online and the only one I found was on loan from the Smithsonian. I really couldnt find out much more info on this piece. If you have any info please share. I would like to know what this came off of. One of the windows is missing the plexiglass. One thing I do know about this piece it is very heavy. I can wrap this up and put on a pallet at no charge. I listed this as Vietnam era based on the year Oct 61. Any information would be appreciated.
