Vietnam USAF Painted HGU-2 F-4 Phantom Fighter Pilot Helmet Group
Set of flight helmets from the estate of Tony Koncak. Unfortunately most of this original group has been split up over the years at different auctions, so Im looking to sell these together. The helmets themselves seem to have seen quite a bit of use and have shop modified liners instead of the velcro type pads found in other standard HGU-2 helmets. So far as I can tell any size or date labels have fallen off or or worn away. Also included is his knee board. If you have any other questions please feel free to ask! Obituary with more information. After battling for years with complications from health issues, Tony Koncak passed away peacefully on Dec. 6, 2014 at the age of 76. Born in Dallas, TX, in 1938 to Anton and Rose Koncak, Tony was the oldest of three children. He joined the Air Force after proudly graduating from Texas A&M and became a meteorologist. He soon wed Margaret, his wife of 51 years. There after Tony became an F-4 fighter pilot, flying over 100 combat missions in Vietnam where he earned two Distinguished Flying Crosses among other medals and honors. Tony enjoyed multiple hobbies including being a carpenter, a mechanic, private pilot, marksman, and fisherman. He loved cooking, especially smoking meats & barbequing. He was active in the community and involved in several churches over the years, where he was both loved and respected for his generosity and integrity. He lived his life by example and was probably the most selfless man his family and friends have known. Tony was predeceased by his sister, Karen. He is survived by his brother, Erik; adoring wife, Margaret; his two sons, Kevin and Kyle; his daughter-in-law, Amy; and grandson, Cody. Vintage WW2 Era 1940s Type B-1 US Army Air Forces Shearling Flight Pants Trousers. Thick sheepskin shearling throughout. Made by Perry Sportswear Co, Newburgh, NY. Overall respectable condition for its age. No holes, or rips, cracks, or stained blotches. All zippers run fine, slight rust in spots. Suspenders in ok shape, still stretchable and pliable. Shearling sheepskin fur inside good and soft condition, some slight smudges on the edges from slight use. A slight musty odor from being stored over the years. Small marks and scuff here and there from normal use. – This is an 80 year old gem of a garment. 29″ inseam -42″ from front chest to bottom of leg -23 waist width as measured laying flat. Stunning B-3 Sheepskin USAAF Leather Flight Jacket Medium 40/42
This is a very awesome almost one-of-a-kind WWII B-3 Bomber jacket. It’s full leather with shearling insulation, the front zipper cracked but it still works 100%. It has all it’s buckles and straps, everything works… Check out the pictures, it doesn’t have an exact size but it is like a medium 40 or 42 size. It measures 23′ pit to pit and 29′ top to bottom that is while zipped closed and collar in the natural folded position. From the estate of a veteran. I will describe below the set, but wanted to point out one thing that makes this set really unique and worthy of further study. The helmet and mask have MATCHING aluminum laundry tag bands. This set was issued to the aviator as you see here. See similar image in Mick. One is attached to O. 2 mask strap, other to rear goggle strap of helmet. Utilizing the 4 matching digits of the helmet and goggle tags-Im certain that someone could x-ref that portion of the individuals ASN. His amazing set, near mint condition set is comprised of. WWII Vented Pilot Goggles, model USAC Type B-7. Offered in excellent condition. By The Chas Fischer Spring Co. WWII USAAF Leather flight helmet type A-11 made by the Sel. By Shoe Company Size Medium. Offered in near mint condition. WWII USAAF headset receiver ANB. All wiring in great. WWII USAAF Oxygen Mask Typ. E A-14 manufactured by. The Ohio Chemical Mfg. Co offered in near mint condition. An incredible near mint U. Force leather flying helmet. Set that will not be encountered again! The Type A-11 intermediate flying helmet was standardized on August 6, 1943 and became one of the most popular and widely utilized helmets during World War II. There were numerous but minor changes relating to the oxygen mask attachments made during its production run but continued to keep the A-11 designation. The rubber earphone mountings were designated for the Type ANB-H-1 radio receiver. Type A-11 Intermediate Flying Helmet; seal brown cape leather exterior shell with black ru. ANB-H-1 Radio Headphone Receiver; chamois lining and ear pads; cap leather and chamois buckle. Chin strap; turn down brow flap. Leather buckle strap on the back nap. Of the helmet to adjust the helmet size; three leather straps on back of helmet to hold the flight goggle’s strap; double reinforced seam on each side of hel. The helmet with embroidered yellow letter text; silver. Stenciled Army Air Forces winged star insignia with white letter text “ARMY AIR FORCES” below insignia on left exterior side of helmet.
