US WW2 8th Air Force Pilot’s Uniform Jacket Bullion Wing Picture Name Found J175
(J175) For sale here is a very nice US WW2 8. Air Force Pilots Class A Uniform Jacket. In the pocket, I found a pack of matches from Roanoke, an Air Medal lapel pin, and a picture of JS Grinnan. The jacket is not named to Grinnan anywhere and there are no corresponding markings, but this may well be his Uniform. The jacket is made from chocolate brown elastique, and is complete with all buttons, but there is no belt. The jacket is a Regulation Army Officers Jacket. There is no makers tag in the pocket. The jacket has a cut edge 8. Air Force patch on the left shoulder and two sewn on Overseas Stripes on the lower left sleeve. The Jacket has a matched pair of Shold R Form N. Meyer rank insignia on the shoulders. The jacket has clutch back Air Force Officers Collar Brass. There is a clutch back Presidential Unit Citation over the right breast pocket. There is a pin back 2 Battle Star ETO ribbon next to a pin back Air Medal ribbon with an oak leaf. These are two separate ribbons, and are not a bar. Above the ribbons, there is a silver bullion pilot wing that appears to be British made. However, the wing is a direct cut out with no fold over or padding. The wing does not react to UV light, and the loose strings pass the burn test. The jacket itself is in good condition, but does show some soiling, light wear, age, and has 4 or 5 piques on the back. This will be an interesting piece to research. The measurements are below for your convenience. Top To Bottom(W/ Collar): 32. Please feel free to ask any questions that you may have. KIA US Army Air Force Corp officer cadet soldier pilot USAF NAME group trunk WW2
WW2 US Army Air Force Corp officer cadet soldier KIA pilot USAF NAME group trunk. Another original item from. Here is your chance to own an interesting grouping from an Air Force cadet who was killed during pilot training. Named to (I believe he made Seargent) Ralph Hilleary. This includes just about everything saved by his mother after his death and includes military uniform items, his cemetary deed, sympathy cards, newspaper clippings, etc. From my research Ralph entered the service in 1944 and trained into 1947 as an aviation cadet. His mother applied for the World War II compensation fund and was denied as he technically died after the end of the war, though did enter the service while the war still raged in 1944. The visor is a size 7-18 from Society and there are four garrison caps and his khaki (all named) trousers. You can see I put all of his miscellaneous military insignia into a riker display case. All in all it’s a very sad story and this is basically his entire legacy in this trunk. There is also a tattered Boy Scouts of America shirt, and personal items such as his golf balls, a knitted sweater vest, photos of women he knew, and other items. Reat looking grouping in good overall condition and ready for your collection. I never grade my items as mint, even though may be. Only a few are new but most have been worn so expect some wear. Any major flaws or damage will be listed in the description. Our measurements are pretty accurate but can vary by ¼. We take the measurements for your benefit so please check them against your own or check them against an item you already own. Even though it is your favorite brand and your size, it may not fit the same! This is a fantastic set that I picked up this summer from a local estate. This is a leather and shearling Air Force US Army bomber flight jacket and pants set. It has the name “R L Carey” on the front and also scratched into the top of one pocket. The tag on the jacket reads TYPE B3, Drawing No. 42-5111-P, Property, Air Force U. Army, Rough Wear Clothing Co. From my research I have found this was the first company to make these flight suits. It is worn and used but is in very good vintage condition with no damage or repairs. The tag in the pants reads TYPE A-3, DWG. 334 H 5592, A. The pants are in good condition also but the zipper on the right leg front is missing some teeth so it doesn’t work and will need to be replaced. The jacket is marked a men’s size 38 Regular. PLEASE CHECK THE MEASUREMENTS. Shoulders: 19″, Armpit to Armpit: 21″, Sleeve Length (from Shoulder): 25″, Length at the Back: 26.5″. The pants are marked a size 40 Regular. Waist: 21″, Inseam: 32″. All measurements are taken with the garment lying flat and ON THE OUTSIDE, double where necessary. This set is in good vintage condition. It comes from a smoke-free home.
