N-3B USAF 1950’s 1960’s Flying Jacket Parka Vintage N3B Size LARGE Air Force
This is a Rare US Air Force issued extreme cold weather parka, size Large from the 1950’s or early 1960’s. Black Label, Dark USAF insignia on the arm. Made with robust construction and designed for combat conditions! The parka was manufactured in the USA in the 1950’s or 60’s under government contract for the U. It has a heavy duty, fully lined hood (very warm) that is trimmed with real. Fur (coyote), a pocket with zipper topped with pen/pencil slots on the left upper arm. It also has 4 lower pockets for your hands. It closes with a heavy duty brass zipper. The tag reads size. Overall the parka is in good vintage condition. Not perfect but nice shape for age. WEIGHT: The parka is very heavy and weights about 5.5 pounds. Measures roughly 26 inches across from armpit to armpit and about 32 inches in length. SIZING: These parkas were designed to be worn with some bulky clothing underneath and therefore the size runs a little large. I generally wear a size large coat. With my size large N-3B parka I can wear a very heavy sweater or fleece jacket underneath. If you need additional information on sizing please contact me. HISTORY OF THE N-3B PARKA: The N-3B parka was designed by the U. Military in the early 1950’s for use by U. Air Force air crews, bombers, helicopter operators, and for crew who had the responsibility of transporting troops all stationed in extremely cold areas. The parka was originally made with a sage green nylon outer shell and lined with a wool blanket type material and had genuine coyote fur ruffs on the hoods. In the mid 1970’s the padding was changed to a polyester type material (making the parka both lighter and warmer), the shell was changed to a cotton-nylon blend, and the fur ruffs had changed to a white synthetic fur. 60’s Military Jacket. A super heavy duty, warm US Air Force parka from 1960. Hood is edged in coyote fur. Heavy duty ConMar zipper. There are some superficial marks and a couple tiny snags on the sleeve zipper pocket. Very minor signs of wear and overall excellent condition! Vintage wears in my shop. Sleeve (from collar): 32. Tinker AFB USAF 50th Ann Very Limited Edition Print Artist Signed 5 others SecAF
This is for a large matted and framed limited edition print. It was done to commemorate the USAF 50th Anniversary at Tinker AFB. I believe this to be from 1997. It is signed in pencil by the artist RT Foster and is number 53 of 200. Print features planes back to WW2 and notable Air Force personnel associated with Oklahoma. In addition to the artist, it is autographed in pencil by Dr. Sheila Widnall (Secretary of the Air Force), Gen. Ronald Fogleman (Chief of Staff of the Air Force), Gen. James E Hill (WW2 Ace and NORAD Commander), BGen. Robinson Risner (Korean War Ace and Vietnam POW), and LTGEN Thomas P Stafford (Gemini and Apollo Astronaut). It is professionally framed and double matted. Frame is roughly 26×34 inches. Matt has some spots and a ghost where a name plate was removed (see pictures). Authentic Vintage 1963 MA-1 Vietnam USAF Air Force Green Orange Reversible Flight Jacket. Very nice with wool insulation. Great looking heavy duty CC metal zipper with dual head and leather pull. Very nice vintage MA-1. GREEN SIDE: 3 mended small holes in banding at bottom, some tiny marks on green side sleeves (about 5 marks) and a few by one pocket. ORANGE SIDE Some soiling and a few stains. Most of the soiling is front bottom and by pockets, and on bottom of a sleeve. There are some red stains that are circled in one of the pics, they are small, and one sleeve bottom has more prominent surface soiling. There is a mended seam at bottom as shown. Light vintage wear overall. COMPARE APPROXIMATE MEASUREMENTS TO A SIMILAR jacket YOU OWN.
