US Air Force Thunderbirds Pilot Flight Jacket L-2B L-Size Vintage RARE! If you are familiar with the patch, you will recognize the patch as authentic when you look at the image of the patch. The embroidery machine used to embroider the patch is not a machine embroidery machine, but a horizontal swinging embroidery machine. This is something that only a very limited number of artisans can do, and there are not many people who can make patches like this. Not many people can make such patches, much less replicas. The jacket sewn into the jacket is the oldest type of L-2B, with an oxygen tab and a flap at the bottom of the main zipper. There is a custom button near the oxygen tab for some reason. AF 36 (500) – 5175. Material: 35% Wool 65% Rayon. Made in USAF (Skyline Clothing Corporation). It is a 1950’s USAF gray lining stencil L-2b nylon flight jacket. It is a standard cross-flap style before 1964 and has an oxygen mask tab. It shows that it’s an early type. The Air Force stencil mark and the inner black tab, which still remain on the shoulder, are also well preserved without damage. There is a small hole in the sleeve rib and body. 1950S USAF L-2B FLIGHT JACKET BY ROLEN SPORTSWEAR CO. SIZE L (FITS M/L). Fantastic piece in really great and wearable condition. Late 1950s L-2B Lightzone Flight Jacket. Rare model by Rolen Sportswear Company USA. 100% Nylon outer in Sage Green. 36% Wool lining and 64% Rayon face. Wool cuffs and waistband. Nice contrast HBT Conmar zippers. Leather pull in the sleeve. Original snap buttons working. Faded USAF stencil of left shoulder. Insignia has been removed. Lightweight – Can be used in spring or summer. The nylon on these jackets tend to fade in a special way and this one has a nice even fade to it. A bit darker in real life, than on the pictures. Condition: no rips or tears. There are a few age spots on the inner lining (which is super soft btw). There are some small holes on the wool sleeve. Bottoms and on the inside of the neck. Size: Marked as a mens L, but it is short, so would also fit a modern mens M in our opinion. Please see measurements below. Pit to pit: 26. Shoulder to shoulder: 19,5. Sleeve from shoulder to end of cuff: 23. Length from neckline down back: 22. Items are pre loved and worn. I try my best to be descriptive as possible. Please let me know if you have any questions. ORIGINAL vintage Blue Anchor Overall L-2B Flying Jacket with period 343rd Strategic Reconnaissance Squadron patch. Jacket is size LARGE. Fits more like a medium. Patch is machine sewn. Roundel and nylon are faded. Some small and faded unknown red stains on reverse as seen in photo. Similar small faint red stain in right underarm (not seen in photo). Overall, nylon and knits are in good shape with no major issues. Crown zippers on front and pocket are functional. Lining is shiny and soft. Appears rumpled but no major pilling or defects. I’m no tailor! Top of collar to bottom of knit 22. Outside of sleeve from shoulder seam to bottom of knit 22. 343rd Strategic Reconnaissance Squadron was activated. On 1 November 1950 and. Conducted aerial photography and global strategic reconnaissance from 1950 to 1979. On, 9 July 1953 a squadron RB-50 temporarily attached to the 91st Strategic Reconnaissance Squadron was shot down by Soviet fighters about ninety miles south of Vladivostok. Thank you very much for your interest in this very nice item. L-2B USAF Flight Jacket. VERY RARE in this CONDITION. Out of our personal collection, and honestly the only item we saw in this condition in all the years of collecting. This is a genuine and original L2-B USAF Flight Jacket. It is the lighter weight version, has snap-down epaultes and no inside pockets. The jacket is contract dated 12. September 1962 and is in a rare and nice condition! The Conmar doublesided zip works perfectly nice and smooth. The Zips ending got no damage nor fading. The collar and the lower hem got no mothholes nor any other damage. The size is Medium (Sadly sadly too small for us). Defects as we are aware of. The jacket is in used condition but given to its age it is still very nice. The cuffs have broken middle seams and a small tiny hole at the endge (both can by repaired easily). There is a small little hole in the nylon at the backside shoulder (please see the picture). There are some small stains at the front and the backside, hardly visible, but a dry cleaning should do the job. Genuine US government issue. Made from a nylon outside and wool/viscose mix material for the inside. All buttons are there. Zip is working perfecltly. We try our best to point each single defect, but still we do NOT GUARANTEE for anything! Brand: US Air Force. Year of contract: 1962. Style : Light Flight Jacket. Measurement, taken while laying flat. Pit to pit: 55 cm / Armlength on the outside: 54 cm / backside collar to hem: 60 cm – Fits like a Medium! You are welcome to ask any additional questions. Up for sale is one extremely rare survivor of the time, this example is a N. L-2B Light Zone Flying Jacket in box made by Satellite Outerwear Corp. The jacket is in superb condition as you would expect from a new jacket, but the box definitely adds the touch of uniqueness to this piece. The only issue present is a dark zipper mark on the orange lining, due to the contact with the blackened Conmar zipper over the years folded in the package. Finding an example with its original box is extremely rare, specially after when it is over 53 years old.
