ORIGINAL vintage Blue Anchor Overall L-2B Flying Jacket with period 343rd Strategic Reconnaissance Squadron patch. Jacket is size LARGE. Fits more like a medium. Patch is machine sewn. Roundel and nylon are faded. Some small and faded unknown red stains on reverse as seen in photo. Similar small faint red stain in right underarm (not seen in photo). Overall, nylon and knits are in good shape with no major issues. Crown zippers on front and pocket are functional. Lining is shiny and soft. Appears rumpled but no major pilling or defects. I’m no tailor! Top of collar to bottom of knit 22. Outside of sleeve from shoulder seam to bottom of knit 22. 343rd Strategic Reconnaissance Squadron was activated. On 1 November 1950 and. Conducted aerial photography and global strategic reconnaissance from 1950 to 1979. On, 9 July 1953 a squadron RB-50 temporarily attached to the 91st Strategic Reconnaissance Squadron was shot down by Soviet fighters about ninety miles south of Vladivostok. 1958 United States Air Force Academy cadet coat, jacket is in great condition for being 60 years old, has flaws such as wear on each cuff and some small spots towards the bottom of the jacket which I have shown in the last 4 pics including an area near the hood seam which has been repaired (shown in last pic), both zippers, hood and front are each original Conmar zipper & work great. Jacket is tagged size Medium X-Long. Tag shows original manufacturing date of December 16th, 1958. Measurements taken from back of jacket. Pit to pit – 22.5in. Shoulder to shoulder – 20in. Pit to cuff – 20in. Shoulder to cuff – 26in. Hood seam to bottom of jacket – 35.5in. RARE World War 2 USAAF Tanker Jacket – no tagged size, fits around a large, but please refer to measurements below. One of the best designed military jackets of all time, this World War 2 Tanker Jacket was worn by Lt. Colonel William Hugh McWhorter Jr. McWhorter joined the Army Air Corps in 1939 and served until his death in 1949. Wounded in combat he was awarded the Purple Heart. Some pilots preferred this jacket for its warmth and ease of movement over their A-2. Likely dated from 1942-44 (when the B-10 was issued). The condition is incredible for its age. Some staining to the shell, some light wear to the wool collar, cuffs, waistband and lining, but no rips or tears. The Conmar Keyhole zipper works beautifully and has zero issues. Features USAAF patch on the shoulder. A great piece for any World War 2 collection! I’ve tried to accurately describe and photograph the item, however, some variation in color may occur. VINTAGE US AIR FORCE N-2B FLIGHT PARKA JACKET REAL FUR CONMAR ZIPPER MEN MEDIUM. Here is an authentic USAF Type N-2B jacket in good vintage condition. A minor bald patch on the real coyote fur trim is not bad at all. Jacket is quite clean with just a few very minor marks as shown. Original Conmar zipper and buttons work perfectly.
